I've been playing FPS games for a long long time but I've never joined a clan, except eGO which I really like. I did found a Left 4 Dead clan called Zombie Response Team, however, and that's the only clan tag I've ever put on my Steam handle.

So, when I joined eGO I made my handle [zrt]=(e)=? DrTall

An admin on a tf2 server today told me that the eGO clan tag has to come first in the order. I'm wondering why this is a rule in eGO.

To be clear, I'm *not* here to whine about it. From my perspective, however, a clan I founded should not come after one I just joined, and it is hard to feel loyal to eGO if I can't list its tag in my name.

So for now my name is back to [zrt] DrTall so no one knows I am an eGO member. What should I do? :(

If you play TF2 why don't you just take off your tag for that and when you go to L4D, take off the eGO one and put on your own back on.

If you play as an eGO member in TF2, you are expected to have eGO first. But in other games you don't have to be eGO.

I could be:

=(eGO)=™ HaloRacer in TF2
fluffyHalokitten (supaClan) in CSS

As long as I'm not representing that particular eGO division in the game.

The reason for having to wear the eGO tag first is simple:

It allows other admins/players in game to recognize who are admins right away, rather than having to sort through a name like [zrt](xblf)=(eGO)=™ Dude.... If you see it in this order, =(eGO)=™ [zrt](xblf) Dude, then it's a LOT easier..

We only require it to be first when on our servers. If your playing on other servers, it doesn't need to be first.

Simply put, If you play in any eGO server you are required to have our tag first, any other server your's can go first :)

you could just put ur l4d clan tag in the back of your name thats what i did it looks much better than having 2+ tags mashed in the front

Exactly

sorry for the semi-offtopic post, but i was wondering what is to safeguard from non-eGO members from putting the tag on and pretending to be a member of the clan?

I remember yesterday we were griefed by 2 immature players and one came back with an eGO tag and started to grief other people on our server, but we only had an eG to kick him and mute him constantly. Unfortunately no eGO were avaliable at that moment until he left on his own after being kicked atleast 10 times if not more.

Campus, nothing is to stop them, however, whenever the admins do a sm_who, they can tell right away who is an admin or not right away... Then, if they see an eGO without the admin power, they can check quite a few areas: hlstatsx, recent promotions, etc... Generally, the easiest way to go is hlstatsx with the persons steam id, paste it into there, and see the person... Generally, if someone's impersonating, they have a few names, then an eGO tagged name w/o the e and G tags. Obviously an easy fix with the sm_ban "name" cake command. :D

Oh we have our ways =)

All admin can tell if someone who has the tag is truly an admin. If you can't find an eGO to call in to handle the situation and the people in question have been warned and kicked by the eG, then a Ban Request form can be filled after the fact. Make sure to include any condump or screenshots if needed.

Ok great, thanks for letting me know! I wish i had taken screenshots and any convos :(

I cant even remember who was involved with the kicking as well but there were alot of e's and like 2 eGs in the server. Next time ill be sure to bring it up with the ban request and log his steamid and any other required proof.

Don't worry about the ones that slip through. But you are well prepared for your next encounter. Nice.

My question is why it wouldn't be first. being a member means more respect in-game. put it second and that's just insulting to =(eGO)= (no offense to your other clan though)

I think my name should be before everyone's clan tag. For example:
ToiletPastries =(eGO)= GardenGroveVW
or
ToiletPastries =(eGO)= ScrappyDoo

Someone PM leadership stat!

No, it *would* be offense to my other clan. You can't blindly say "eGO must come before other clans" because every other clan could have the same rule that "x clan must come before others". Either someone caves or people can't be in both clans. Now what?

As far as only putting the tag first when on eGO servers, this I see as fair. I get it that if I'm using your property without paying, I play by your rules. It would be a lot easier, however, if ? were a key on the keyboard. :P
