Submerged computer

how is that possible?

does mineral oil help improve the cooling? does it not conduct , thats why it doesnt affect the parts and short out?

looks freaking epic.... and sooo many parts to mess up.

Yes oil submersion does improve the cooling because it carries heat away better than air or water, plus is non-conductive :)

I've actually done one of these with my friends.

YOU THINK YOU'RE SO COOL MISTER ADAM? HUH? HUHHH!?

I think you are.

But anyway, I think he could've added more details like rusty metal on the frame of it. If you go to the Kotaku article on this, the creator actually answers a ton of questions about his build in the comments.

I know it works, but there's no way I'm that brave. Not yet.

when i build a new desktop i plan on convertingmy old desktop into a mineral oil aqurium pc for funsies but i'd not do it to my main just ...well idk

Yeah, risky strategy if you ask me...not sure I'd be bold enough to do it with my precious compy either?

Can you link the article so I can update the OP? I think that'd be awesome thanks!

Seen it before and its still epic... however, i still would not be brave enough to try this.

I wonder how well it would work with a gaming computer and a solid state drive... It would be the most epic win ever!!!
Just imagine it...You walk into a lan party carrying that computer....
Everyone else there would completely freak out!!! You would be lucky to even play a game on it with everyone wanting a look!!!! :D

Especially if you added some color changing LED lights... that would be awesome.

Yea!!! And I think those little fishey thingeys would work if you had them rubber coated and put grills over any fans to prevent damage!
Think about it...you would be the envy of every lan party in the world!!! :D

EDIT: Actually, i was thinking, it would be pretty easy to run a pump into a small resovoire, then have the cooling elements of a mini-fridge cool it.
It would run incredibly cool, and the fridge's cooling elements on full draw only pull about 100 watts, so it isn't even too much power!!! :D
