Hey guys I just yesterday started getting a very weird problem with my computer. The problem is that whenever i try to play a game ie. BBC2 or MW2 my monitor keeps going black and saying no VGA Signal Check DVI cable then goes completely black. During the time that it is black I can hear the game noises but I always have to do a force shut off to get the screen back working again. But when surfing the web or basically anything else my monitor is fine and 100% working. Only when I try to play a game that it loses connection with my computer.

My graphics card: NIVIDA 9600 GT
Monitor: ACER PnP Monitor
Display Mode: 1280x960 (32bit) (60Hz)

All my drivers are up to date as of today.
 
Just a guess here, but when you are surfing the web, there isn't much of a load on the video card. When you are playing a game, it puts a heavy load on the video card and it is overheating, thus causing the blackout. How old is the computer and when was the last time you took the cover off and used a can of compressed air to blow out the dust? I have a friend that has to do this to his computer 4 or 5 times a year.
 
My computer has 4 fans on it and has 1 on the card itself. I just took the cover off earlier today and sprayed out all the dust and did a very thorough job doing so. Ive also checked my temps using EVEREST and all are normal.
 
In order to eliminate or single out the variable effecting the monitor shutoff let's try a couple things.

Unplug and replug the video cable into your graphics card and monitor. Check for any damage. (Are you using VGA or DVI - I know a lot of the nVidia cards in 2008/09 were primarily DVI.) If it's a DVI output on your graphics card, are you using a DVI cord directly into your monitor or are you using a DVI-->VGA adapter?

Also, try running BC2/CoD in windowed mode rather than full screen and let me know if it works.

Edit: Also, who is the manufacturer of your graphics card?

XFX I believe is the manufacturer for the card. How can I tell if I'm using a VGA or DVI cord? By the way i have been using this setup for about a year without any problems until now. How do I play a game in the windowed mode like mw2?

Once he responds to this, I might be able to help.
 
Something similar happened to me before and it was cause I updated my graphics card to a newer version the the update didnt agree with the settings, so maybe try and go to the nvidia website the download the drivers from maybe 1 or 2 versions ago, if had worked for me.
 
Do I delete the driver i have now then download those drivers and thank you guys so much!

Slazanger when ever I click on that link the search it always shows me the newest driver for my card that I have already downloaded.
 
ExtremeCaliber, you dont need to uninstall the drives just install the new ones over the ones you have installed.

Also about where to get the older drivers.

Go to this url.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/downloading_drivers.html

Click Most-Recent or Beta Drivers

Make your selections on what you have and click search.

After that you should see the list of the older and beta drivers.

There's really no way to tell what will work. Trial and error is the best way to find out when dealing with older drivers. I'd roll back a few updates ago to start with. Remember, you can update the drivers to whenever you wish as many times as you'd like.

I'm not convinced it's a driver issue.

I was hinted on a program called rivatuner. It allows me to download NVIDIA force-ware and also adjust my fan speeds. Could either of these help in any way?

What is force-ware?
 
or you could just go to the nvidia site, and download the latest ones
