Benchmarking Thread!

Interesting... downloaded 2.1.0 beta 6 and found something interesting out. Apparently, Windows 7 is set up so that Program Files is Read-only. It's not letting me edit the .cfg file. Curious... shall have to tinker more.

E: I've tried changing it from Read-only and it gave me "Access is denied" bullcrap. I said ignore, and it goes through all the files trying to change it. Everything is still marked read-only and it still isn't letting me edit the .cfg.

Windows says, "F you, you're not allowed to actually use your computer for what you want to!"

The problem is Windows has cleverly made it so that .cfg do not have it in the right-click drop box. And if I log-in to the admin account, then I have to do a whole lot of bullcrap because I'm having to edit files on another account. Which is stupid, because it's from the administrator account. Security just wants to protect me from myself, which is retarded.
 
Yeah, it would open in notepad. It just wouldn't let me save it in Program Files. I got it to work, though. Cut and pasted the whole MSI Afterburner folder into My Documents so that the Program Files Access Denied idiocy wouldn't apply. Apparently, if a non-read-only file is in a read-only folder's sub-folder then it's still read-only. And because Windows is genius, Program Files is always read-only. I don't need the damn kiddie gloves. If I have to reformat my computer because I messed up, then I'll freaking reformat.
 
Two accounts, admin and regular user. I suppose I could turn UAC off, but typing in the password every now and then isn't a problem.
 
Well at least I got it working. I'm pretty sure the max voltage Afterburner will go to is 1.3V, but I assume I don't want to just hit max on everything and then start Furmarking. Just sounds stupid. Where should I not venture in the realm of voltages?

Depends on temps. If you can do 1.3v with safe temps, then go for it. (Safe would be <100C under load)
 
for ur initial test overclocks u don't need to run it for 15 mins

just run some quick ones so ur not artifacting and then when ur done fine tuning it, run it for longer and check

I would bump the voltage a little bit, not 1.3v. Then when u hit the wall, see if raising the voltage helps u get any higher clocks etc....
 
Accurate load testing = play whatever game you want for however long you want.

Anyways, I'll just keep fine-tuning at this point. I'm just nervous about frying the card. I got up to 975 MHz last night, so I'm gonna have to see if this thing can hit them four figures.

im thinking about tinkering with my OC more too. currently i have my voltage at a constant 1.25v but thinking about bumping that a little to see if i can hit four digits and a higher mem.
its ok to bump the voltage some as long as you can keep it cool (tho i can't seem to find info on what its max is) and its ok to OC it as high as it can go and still be stable, again as long as temps/voltage/stability allow it to

attempting 1.275/1000/1300 now - downloading furmark again for the test

bah 1.275 didn't work but 1.3 seemed decent, bout the absolute max i could go. may try to bump the clocks a little at that voltage but so far 1000/1300 seems good to go, we'll test on gaming later
as you can see the max temp is 78c with 91% fan speed (have a custom fan speed/temp ratio made out, anything 80+ is instant 100% fan speed) but gaming will never get that high. thats furmark for 10 minutes with xtreme burning mode on

I wouldn't go higher than 1.3 for 24/7 usage, but just for benching, up to 1.4 should be fine.

Also, for benching, just leave the fan at 100 all the time, i find if it is cooler, my card OCs better
