Yes/No/What?

I am really interested. I got the EE version - so didn't have the bugs as the regular. I really liked the lore as well.

Anyone else pickin' it up?

I pre-ordered the game yesterday and am now half way though my download on Steam. I loved the first game, as well as CD Projekt's stance on PC gaming, DLC, and DRM.

The way they dealt with the EE patch of the first game virtually guaranteed I'd purchase The Witcher 2 no matter what. In fact, I ended up purchasing multiple copies of the first game over time - both a retail copy and Steam copy myself as well as another for a friend. I'm proud to support a company that truly loves the games they make, and that doesn't treat their customers as criminals with restrictive DRM (I'm looking at you Ubisoft).

Can't wait to 'break open' my copy when it's finished downloading later today.

I'm playing Mass Effect 2 for the first time (I know, shame on me) first, then its onto this and Fable 3. In terms of single player anyways, and on that note it will probably be some time before I find the time to get around to them :3 (took me... like a month to hit 60 and 100% completion on Mass Effect?).

Witcher 2 Collectors edition arrived this afternoon, Installing now. Listening to soundtrack and interogating a suspect in LA Noire... yeah, that's how I roll, :-P

lol @ Gryphon. I used to play WoW...it took me 2 years to get to level 85. It was so anticlimatic. Witcher 2 is OKAY I would hold off though - there are some sound glitches, graphics issues, and the combat is supa hard on 'easy' mode, even.

But then I'm not much of a gamer...that's why I play an Engineer on TF2.

Is this going to be pc only? If so I wont bother with it. Looks fun but my comp wont even be able to start the thing.

Almost done @ 100% completion with ME2; any updates as to the awesomeness status of this game? opinions (preferably spoiler free!) of the gameplay?

First off, the game is VERY mature. It starts off with Geralt laying next to a very naked sorceress wearing nothing but what the gods gave her, and they were VERY generous.

Combat uses a free flow style technique over the stance styles from the first game. Graphically it is <bleeping> beautiful. Storywise it is not your normal fantasy of choice between good or bad, but lots of shades of gray and choices made now will not always have an immediate effect.

Basically, this ain't your daddies RPG, and JRPG can't even hold a candle to it. It's dark, gritty, brutal, and unrepentantly mature. In other words, freakin' awesome.

I believe it is. And yes it's supposed to be a bit of a beast to run.

lame

I'm wondering if it would have even been allowed on consoles. With PC gaming, you just need to get it past the ESRB (US). With consoles, you also need explicit approval from Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo. I doubt they would have wanted to play ball considering the past ("SEXBox") controversies with Mass Effect's "mature" content. The Witcher 2 goes way beyond what BioWare would dare put into a mainstream game.

Not to mention it would have to be way watered down visually. The game gives my system a run for it's money on Ultra (at 28-40FPS) even just at 720p. I can't imagine what that would do to a console.

Ubersampling on or off? That setting just murders your fps. Also retail or digital? Retail's drm seems to be effecting performance, either way ATI is working on drivers.

But this game is a beast for a reason. Probably best graphics I've ever seen.

Also, I couldn't imagine what the controversy would be like if this was released on consoles. Parents buy games without even paying attention to what they are buying. Hot coffee was bad enough, since it's just on PC it's more under the radar since the PC community is more of a mature crowd. It would be the death of this game to release on console, so much red tape.

Picking this game up my self once my i5-2500k/motherboard/ram gets here.

The Ultra preset defaults to Ubersampling on. You're right, though, it causes a significant FPS hit. Still ran perfectly smooth in the FPS range mentioned above, however, so I never bothered to turn it off. I could do some run throughs with it off if you wanted a performance comparison, though.

Oh, and I'm running the Steam version which has the DRM removed (though the files are still present). Still waiting for updated drivers, though, yes.

Ubersampling basically takes the scene and renders it multiple times, kind of rips your fps in half. It's really meant for cf/sli systems and future proofing for the game for later cards. I'm not going to be using it.

By god this game is amazing. Everything from the combat to the story is hands down an example of the best of the best.

<- Now addicted.

Just finished the game. Best RPG to date imo. Also the boss fights actually feel like boss fights.... finally. Gonna start my 2nd playthrough. :)

I don't want to have to say this but i'm going to say it anyway. The quality of this game and the amount of work put into it literally blows Dragon Age 2 into the 'shit rpg of 2011' section. Also Dragon Age 2 was made by a well known developer with a history of awesome games, Witcher 2 was not. Lol Bioware shame.

Out of curiosity, how many points did you have (to spend on talents or whatever they are called) at the end?
