So I just upgraded my computer in light of new games coming out, however what should have been 1 upgrade turned into a whole new system upgrade.. My 260 burned out so I purchased a 560...

Turns out when I plugged in my 560 nothing worked, one thing lead to the next and my motherboard fried, yay. So new motherboard, ASUS Rampage III, fresh new start.

Plugged in the GPU... then CPU? Nope, of course I didnt read the box of the mobo at the store, my socket wasn't supported. I needed a 1366 socket, I had a 1156..

Picked up a new cpu i7-920 or something.. Had to get new ram because I luckily read in the store my channels wouldn't be supported.. Anyways I'm completely broke, cant pay rent for dorm next month (looks like we know where my priorities are), annnd pictures :D

gpu - 130$
cpu - 180$
mobo - 310$
new case - 80$
My stupidity - priceless

Nice of you to upgrade your computer that was already far superior to mine and then make it so that it blows mine out of the water. Manners mister....

nice rig man, can u tell me where did u buy it coz im gonna be in maimi next month for vacations and i want to buy a new computer.

I bought my parts at Microcenter, real nice guys, pro's too. There are non in Miami.. However there is a store called CompUSA which is very similar, there was one up here but it closed down. Good luck with your purchase :D
 
That case looks sweet! Also it seems as though you now have an epic rig completely by accident.

Wow i'm quite jealous of ur case, the interior is very nice and roomy also.
Tho i wonder, wut gfx card did u get for that price? I wonder if u can run somewhat high settings with it in BF3, cuz I'm upping my gfx card soon also.
 
that story kinda reminds me of the first time i messed around the insides of a desktop, it was when i was like a freshman in high school, my brother's mobo died so i had to keep replacing parts because i didnt do my research the first time i bought the parts, the next time however, i had planned every little detail out for building my pc.

to those asking about where to buy computer parts, i would highly suggest newegg.com they have good prices, good customer service, and its probably the most used computer parts website besides tigerdirect.com. i use newegg always first because their warehouse is in Tennessee so i get anything i order within 2 days even tho i live in louisiana, tigerdirect takes about a whole week >_>

Yeah lesson learned for me.. Again. xD I've done other builds, kinda went to hell with this one.

Judging by the system requirements that EA has released (minimum and recommended) I should be able to play BF3 on high settings. Make sure you get a card that wont bottleneck with your system, that's pretty much all the advice I can give because I dont know the rest of your pc xD.

I know that newegg its the best place but im gonna be on miami for a week (i live on central america for those that doenst know :P), so i dont have the time for wait for the parts. i dont know to much about computers, i need a place where i can go and ask and get the some customer service.
 
And the funny part is, I'm still gonna dominate you on the Battlefield. :D

Below is the link, I bought all my stuff from tiger direct also I have already upgrade to 4 to 12GB; system can handle up to 16GB. I run dual monitors and everything working ok. I play the game and at the same time other monitor doing work (multitask)

12GB is a lot for gaming, technically the most amount of RAM you need is 6GB for triple and 4GB for dual since most games dont use more than that, the biggest upgrade is always a video card as long as your cpu doesnt bottleneck it.
