Many of you may have been wondering out loud just what we have in store for the future. Today we are pleased to give you your first look at League of Legends: Dominion, the largest game update in the history of League of Legends. This update will feature not only a brand new map, but also an entirely new game mode showcasing innovative gameplay never before attempted in the MOBA genre.

For quite some time, all of you have been clamoring for new battlefields upon which to test your skills against other summoners in League of Legends. We're pleased to announce that we've heard you, and that for over a year our Design Team has been working tirelessly to craft Dominion into a truly new and groundbreaking experience.

On the Crystal Scar players will battle for control of five capture points, holding them to damage their enemies' nexus. The game ends when one team had seized control long enough to drain the opposing team's nexus down to zero. Battles last around 20 minutes, and focus on high-intensity, player-versus-player combat. If you've been looking for a fast-paced, high-intensity competitive gaming experience, this is what you've been waiting for.

We're taking Dominion on the road during convention season this year, allowing you to get your hands on the new game mode at both Gamescom in Cologne, Germany and PAX Prime in Seattle, Washington! Stay tuned for more details as we draw closer to these exciting events.

Update: Some of you have expressed interest in when Dominion will be available worldwide, and we wanted to respond to that directly. While we take a ?when it?s ready? approach to our feature releases, you will be able to play Dominion in a nearly complete state at GamesCom (August 17-21) in Europe and at PAX Prime (August 26-28) in North America.

League of Legends: Dominion will make it into your daily play schedule shortly after PAX.

They might just do changes in specific game types.... They're going to have to see if the competitive scene stays with 5v5 or Domination. They they'll have to balance the game around that.

This. The buffs and nerfs can and will be specific to the game types. I'm fairly certain the competitve scene will remain in SR though, seeing as Dominion won't even have a ladder on launch.

Yes but jax and Mundo suffered for being OP on TT and now are very lack luster on SR. What i'm saying is what happens if X Champion on Dom is uberly OP but fine on SR. Means that on SR they are gonna get mega nurfed and become what mundo is now.

If they buff and nurf differently to both maps. Riot has just created a new game with the same characters.

Since you can not move while capturing a point I predict every global / knock off champion (alistar , blitz, poppy etc ) will be played all day every day.

Well it's certain the metagame for Dominion will be VERY different. It wil change the way we play, and also which champions we play. I don't care if some champions end up being useless in Dominion: you can't expect every champion to be balanced in both modes.

As long as the balance in SR stays unchanged and that no one is ridiculously OP in Dominion, I don't care if my favorite champions are useless on there, I'll just learn new ones.

After playing more than 1500 matches of LoL, I'm glad there is something new to play on League of Legends, instead of just killing towers to kill the nexus. Really looking forward to this :]

one thing i could i wished for, is that instead of league making a hole new thing to download "which i think it is, i dont know weather it is or not" they just made 1 game "league of legends and just had different game mods on it i think that would be a great idea!

Honestly this looks dumb....Just my opinion, sure a new map for 5v5 ranked woulda been nice, but a new gamemode wasnt really needed.
