I tried to make a nice title for a pretty crummy thread. Truthfully this thread sucks.

I've advised the Counter-Strike Leaders that we have till July 31 to make Jail a consistent server or it will be changed permanently. There's players who feel that Leadership will not change the server due to the passion that our community has for the server, but I am in a tough position and have to say that obviously that's wrong. I understand and stand by everyone who enjoys playing this server. History lesson - Jail is the reason I joined Counter-Strike and became an admin and leader here. No one wants to see the server changed but we can not let the inconsistency continue.

In a time where our resources are in demand due to other ventures we are seeking out, our empty server could be put to use for something else. Do I want that to happen? No. However, we (Community Managers) have to be responsible with the money that people donate and allocate funds and resources appropriately.

I know how passionate everyone is. I know how much fun everyone has. I know that we can buckle down and get the server hopping. It's everyone's responsibility to recognize when the server is 0/32 or >10/32 and lend a hand in helping fill the server. Our rebound with TTT shows that our community can get behind something and get it back to where it belongs. Let us do the same thing with Jail.

If anyone after reading this still thinks something like "This is just to scare people" or "they'll never actually get rid of jail". Then just stop. If you want to jail server to succeed and stay, and I know a lot of you do, then we all have to work together. Doing nothing except pretending that Jail won't disappear as we know it is like playing Russian roulette with all 6 chambers filled.

Sorry to be so harsh with my post. I've said at every one of my fireside chats and talks with all of you, we need to get Jail consistently successful. No more of the one good week, one bad week stuff.

why does anyone think we wouldn't get rid of a failing server? that's a bit silly.
no one says "HEY MAN LET ME THROW MONEY AT SHIT THAT DON'T WORK" lol.

i love Jail, it's the whole reason why I even joined the CS division many years ago. it would suck to see it go, but things come and go, it's the cycle of life and progression.

everything must progress forward, never backwards. if it's holding you down, kill it.

Same here. Jail brought me to eGO and its pretty much the only server I play.

I actually joined when it was requested today but had to leave for lunch.

We gotta stay sharp, mates, or this is a good bye to the best server ever...

Jail was already removed once for anyone thinking its not serious. Last time it was removed, I was in the middle of making nightescape for source. This time I'm in the middle if making the mansion map. The difference this time is I expect to release it before jail goes under.

If you are not filling jail, I get leadership to permanently ban you. Of course I am joking! Guys, the fill jail initiative is not some stupid hashtag. All tees and I really want to see this sever succeed. I can't tell you how many times I have been on TTT when it was full then suggested that we fill jail. Everyone always says, "That'll take too long" or "I don't feel like it right now". This is the wrong mindset you guys. For starters, we are probably going to lose office. WE DO NOT NEED TO LOSE JAIL! #FillJail

One thing our jail server lacks..and one reason I don't spend a lot of time there...is cause I get bored..easy. When I am dead and I have to wait for days for someone to either rebel, get lr, or the cts to find the missing t, it kills jail for me. I don't know how everyone else feels but that it honestly what ruins jail for me. I like being a T but at the same time that is all I can be because I am a terrible guard and people get quite pissy when a guard/warden is bad.

Just throwing this one out there for thoughts sake - Is Jail really what people want? I know people enjoy it a lot, but is there a better game mode people would like to see tested and pushed instead? It just seems to be very up and down, making me wonder if people are feeling obligated to fill it and less are actually enjoying it any more.

Just a thought on it. Hopefully we can find a good set up or continue onward and not see a server close down.

People will suggest servers all they want, but when push comes to shove, they generally aren't the ones playing it 2 weeks in.

Probably right. A lot of people want surf and mini games and a bunch of crap that will be popular for a little bit but fade over time or is something that has already been tried. We really need to look at some of the most popular servers and see what the players are really playing and if it is something we would like to try.

But lets not talk like Jail has failed already. We can still pull this through. I dont play jail much so I have no clue how to make it more popular. The only things I can tell you are the things that keep me from playing it more often.

The other issue with copying popular servers is that they are already popular. People are stuck in their ways and don't like to leave too quickly when we don't offer much difference from them, even with our awesome community and great people. We have to find our own uniqueness.

Thats was I was saying. Lets not talk like jail is being replaced right now. We can still make jail a successful server. We all just need to band together and figure out how. And seed/fill the server as much as possible.

I mean, if there was a true passion or love for Jail then this wouldn't even be a discussion. There's a lot of nostalgia associated with server, and everybody thinks it's always gonna be there but it was bound to end at some point. Not saying goodbye to it yet though.

are all ruled out by the many other 40-slot jail servers that are full every day.

Why are they? They have 100+ community jail-specific members signed up, engaged, and part of the community.

Plz set up a recruitment drive for jail, we can be full everyday too.
