I finally got around to watching this. It certainly lived up to the expectations and hype around it for sure. Easily the best animation I've ever seen for an anime, I think. Probably the best Makato Shinkai work, overall.

My girlfriend introduced this gem to me on our 2nd date. She has good tastes.

Time warp! I finally watched the original Ghost in the Shell. It holds up well for it's age, I feel the animation was actually ahead of it's time. Nothing I'd watch on repeat or anything but, overall enjoyable and makes you think about technology a lot.

You should watch the original Major series. You don't need it to understand Major 2nd, but would probably help with overall enjoyment.

Definitely will do! Major 2nd is still releasing episodes but I've heard some good things about the original. But omg does Major 2nd just make me want to jump up and scream.

In the meantime, I'm going to try Room Mate and Blast of Tempest. I'm not good at finding anime as I have a habit of just looking for interesting covers and hoping the anime is decent.

EDIT: Also I've been watching the AOT season 3 and haven't been impressed. Maybe I need to rewatch the whole series and then start watchign season 3 because it just doesn't have the bang that season 2 had.

I assume by Shouja you mean Shoujo, as that's what Vampire Knight and Ouran fall under. Based more on the shows you said you enjoyed, you'd probably enjoy some of these:
