I am in school for two degrees in Information Tech. & Web Design. I had a interview at BestBuy to work in the Geek Squad reciently. I could not in my right mind sell someone a HD and ghost their data from the old one to the new one and charge them $400.00. So I decided to start my own company. I don't live close to you guys so this is not a ad. I just wanted my friends at =(eGO)= to take a look at it and tell me what you think. Thank you.

i like the banner at top and slogan but u might need to add more colors and put pictures on the front page with their prices like 35 in plasma for $2,000

I would also split up the text so it's not a wall of text. Make stuff you want emphasized larger...

The site looks cluttered and potentially can scare away some people, and discourage others who are lazy.

* Seperate the text
*Emphasize specific parts
*Clean up the look of the site
* Important stuff in bold large text and near the top of the page
* Make it fluid width instead of fixed

Post fliers up everywhere!! I know that there are alot of older people that live in Ohio. [My relatives]. And, like what 50 said, you just put up just regular system checks that the customer should try before the need "professional" help.

Another thing is that your price list is a bit generic. You use examples of exact amounts that get charged at chains to install a hard drive, but then on your price list you never say how much it is to install a hard drive...just "hardware installation". I would recommend that you list some common hardware installations, estimate how long it takes you to do those, and then have separate prices for each one. For example, how much to

-install a new processor
-install a new motherboard
-install a new hard drive
-install memory

Otherwise, I echo a lot of the previous suggestions about web site layout and making things less verbose. Split up the text and I think it will go a long way. That's my $0.02 anyway...take it or leave it but in either case: Good luck!

I agree with everything that has been said but I personally have a HUGE pet peeve with email addresses. YOU OWN THE DOMAIN and arte using it. Unless you have an email that is like [email protected] I won't respect or trust you. My 2 cents.

Nice site, all the other suggestions before this post are pretty much what I would have said breaking up the text, seperating prices further. All and all though its a pretty solid site so far. Congrats and best of luck

Can I give your company a call about my headset not working? Logitech isn't helping much...

The site map page is a little unnecessary, and it would be better off in a box on the side, much like the one we have on our website :D

cool! its great that somebody isn't charging $655143478 to plug your computer in. i got you guys defiantly bookmarked!!

its time consuming but go to a flash template website and buy one for like 100 bucks. they look amazing!

also get those little tiny pictures that show up on your tabs and book marks. you could probably

avoid using pronouns in you paragraphs (no "i" "we" "our")

Let me give you some constructive input from someone who runs a commercial website.

1: Your page title stinks. "Home". Very bad. Put your company name in there. This is a powerful ranking factor for search. Keep it to a few words, but make them 150% relevant to your site. Make it good, small, and do not waste a single character.

2: Your keywords are redundant. Get rid of duplicates. Duplicates = spamming.

3: Too much text. A paragraph or two is enough. If you find yourself doing more than that, it's time for a menu with pages to browse. People like content, not a single front with all the information right up front. Too much information is WORSE than too little. ( Why? You wasted your time making something nobody will read. ) Business writing is an art form. Once you get it down - you'll be very happy with your efforts. The trick is to say as much as possible in as few words as possible. I bet you, if I took that entire site - I could cut down the text by 80-90% with some work. Put the effort in - it'll pay off.

4: Make the FIRST couple sentences count. People don't like reading. You've got to catch their attention fast. "Sick of paying too much to repair your computer? We charge fair prices for service. We'll get your system working and you won't feel ripped off when you walk out." ( etc. Quick, simple, to the point. )

5: See your price list? I'll give you a very powerful phrase you can stick right as the first line: "FREE ESTIMATES! CALL US!"

6: You wrote a lot, already did the work - use it, but somewhere else. When you chop up your pages and make it with less text - offer up the option to get MORE information for anyone who wants to read about it. For each service, you can have a link: "Click for details" - and when you click it, there's a whole page dedicated to whatever. ( all that text you wrote. )

7: Some of your images are grainy. Grainy images = unprofessional. Get better quality, crisp images. It's better to use NO graphic than to use a low quality graphic.

Overall the site looks pretty damn good.
2 things I think could be fixed (rather easily at that).
1st is the wording/structure in a couple of your paragraphs. I think some of them could be broken up, kinda like Awesome was saying. This increases readability and won't deter "lazy" people.
The 2nd thing is that the huge block of text above your price list isn't completely necessary. A couple of points are essential, but most of it seems like it's filler.

Ah, and try a promotion on your website, something like "Mention our website for a free computer checkup" or something of the sort.

(If you want any help revising or editing, I work for e-hugs :D)

1 thing no matter what everyone else has said.... your prices rock! lol. compared to our place down where i live, those are pretty tight. GL on your business. (btw i live in ohio too ;) )

WALL OF TEXT ALERT!

jk haha yeah I'm a communication design major and all I can say from what I've learned is more pictures, less text. People just browsing sites don't want to read anything! Unfortunately I don't konw much about coding or web design but I could tell you if you got a nice border on that homepage and some pictures of people smiling or all that jazz you'd be in business.

Yea- about pricing.

Check your local prices. Don't price under 50% less than everyone else. Give a good, fair price - but don't be rock bottom.

Why?

Prices that are TOO low in comparison to the market imply bad workmanship.

AND - your best customers ( think: business contract with a place that has 100 computers ) - will be afraid of you.

( Really. If I'm running a business and I pay $0.50 for a good strong cardboard box - if someone comes along offering me the same box for $0.10 - I'm going to think ... hmm ... I bet the paper's weak and all my boxes are going to fall apart.... I think I'll pass. But - if someone came and offered me the same thing for $0.40 - I'd say hell yeah! Send me a thousand! )

Yea - those are things I learned running a business - my main field is computers. If I had jumped in without the guidance of an experienced businessperson - everything I would have done naturally would have been totally wrong.

Very good concept. I do computer work by referral in my area and I'm disgusted by Geek Squad charging those outrageous prices. I don't think I would be able to sleep at night.

Keep it up, soldier.

Actually, I have the Geek Squad MRI 4.8.1 disk that GS uses to do almost all their work... I.E. Spyware, Adware, "Optimize" tune ups hahaha... the one they charge up to $150.00 to be ran. It is a pretty sweet disk, can find it on Torrent sites as well.

Cheers,
Loko

A long time ago I thought it would be funny to have a repair service called The Computer Exorcists... but not so much anymore.
