Family Members Using Your Game

Guys i notice ALOT of people contesting bans saying that their brother, or their sister was using their account and playing. People say that their family members must have done something wrong and can we please lift the ban.

Let me make this CLEAR for everyone. You are responsible for who uses your account and how they behave while in eGO servers. None of the pubbers know if its actually you on your account or it is not. All they see is an edgegamers tag and the manner in which you present yourself.

Now if you want to let your brother or sister play then please tell them what they can and cannot do. I know this seems like a hassel, but it can potentially save you from a ban.

I just want to add something to this post.

I know alot of people here have younger brothers or sisters who are still considered children. Maybe they are under 13 years old.

If you want to let them play your game but do not want them to be exposed to some of the profanity and nonsense we see on other servers, then there is no better place for them to be than eGO servers. This brings me to my next point. If you want your brother or sister to play on an eGO server to save them from profanity, but do not trust them enough to keep you unbanned, then let an admin know who is using your account.

For example: "Zegz, my younger brother is going to use my account to play on strand. I want him to be in an enviroment free from profanity but im also not going to stand here next to him and pay attention to what he says. Can you please silence him for me so i can rest assured he wont say anything stupid and get me in trouble?"

In my personal opinion, I would do this for anyone who asked. If you are mature enough to come to me first with this information, then you are someone who belongs in this clan and i would hate to see that effected by a sibling.

I paid $49 + 8.25% sales tax for my orange box.
and have logged over 15 days in the eGO server.
And spent HUNDREDS of hours in the forums, and on steam, and in the servers doing eGO work, and having fun.

I would not risk all that by letting someone else play with my account unless I was right there watching them.

It may be a hassle, but remember, if they screw up and get banned, its going to be even more of a hassle.

We are all here to have fun. Why not ask them to save up their money and buy the game too, then ya'll can both play at the same time. :D

ps. thanks for bring this up Zegz

and also remember if they use your account make sure it says "GUEST" but again they must still abide by the rules

Bought an extra copy of TF2. Cheap insurance plus I never let any touch my computer. Nobody is going to spoil a good thing for me. Why risk it?

That same excuse(s) I have been hearing for way to many years than I care to admit... U are responsible for your ID, it is your "key" that represents u in the gaming community.. Responsibility and consequences are the same just like in real life.

Think of it as your "house key", u just don't leave it around for anyone to pick up and come and go as they please.. it is more or less the same principle.

I have chainsaws guarding my computer... plus my brother is eGO Puddinpop... so i doubt anything can go wrong.

dude i wouldnt even let any1 have my password for my account to log in :( i wouldnt risk what i have gained just to lose it all :(

good post
but sometimes family could actually
improve ur popularity(well i think so)
:)

I try to keep myself up to date with what's going on. I make it a habit to read every new Request/Contest Ban. I may be wrong but it seems this happens a lot lately. I see a lot of posts where they try to blame it on a sibling or other family member. They may be right, it may be their brother, but at the same time it could just be that they don't want to accept responsibility for their actions.

In my personal opinion, I don't think someone should be shown mercy because of something their sibling or family has done. If they aren't smart enough to keep their siblings or family off their stuff or at least say something to them about the rules. I don't know, I just see it as a scape goat.

i dont let my family play but if you do another thing that helps is putting guest at the end of you name so yeah

i agree with rellik if one of your friends/family members wants to play your game i have a few tips..
1 be there and watch.
2 do not let them type bad things to other members.
3 dont let them use the mic.
these tips might help when smaller people use your mic or if one of your friends does use your mic they might not know the rules of eGO like they might do f-bombs or mic spam ect. this is also bad for you because eGO admins might think it is you or a e might and do a protest ban on you. I dont think that would be fair if it is not you. If this does happen just explain and tell the person that did it to your to read the rules and not to do that again. Hope this helps to you guys. =)
