Happy D-Day

I don't mean to be negative, but Happy might not be the right word for it...

The number of Allied casualties during D-Day is guessed to be approximately..
10,000, containing 2500 dead.

British - 2700
Canadians - 946
Americans - 6603

I thought this meant "Happy Delilah Day".
My daughter is 16 months old today.

So i was like "Awww someone thought of her."
Maybe thats what he means HnK?

D-Day: A celebration

D-Day is to be happily acknowledged as one of the final stages of the defeat of Nazi Germany. The world can still rejoice at the Allies victory at the beaches of Normandy and for the rest of human history give thanks to those who suffered or gave their lives to stop not only the Nazis, but also the possibility of the possession of northern and western Europe by Soviet Forces. We can celebrate D-Day as we celebrate all the great victories against our enemies and we can give thanks to the solders who sacrificed themselves to rid the world of a horrible evil.

To Goomba: My father-in-law fought at Bastogne, lost extremities to frostbite, lived, and rejoiced the victory he was a part of. He never talked about the killing and his friends dying, but he was happy to be alive and free. My dads brother fought in Bastogne as well and he too did not talk to us much about the war, nor did I ever ask. He told everyone be happy for the good things and never forget what they had done. My father was an officer in the U.S. Air Force and was fortunate to have served between Korea and Vietnam. My family has had many veterans, thank you very much and forgive us if my family enjoys the wonderful lives that "our" veterans made for us, because we sure as hell do not dwell on the death and suffering that all fighting produces. Rest assured we remember our lost ones in our prayers.
