    iirc the 9800gx2 will offer a 30% performance increase over the 8800 ultra, which is great for a single card, the cons are that it will cost a fortune and will consume lots of watts(pun intended).

    second monitor....???

    i have two monitors although i rarely use both of them. my low res 17 inch lcd is mainly for documentation while i ssh on my 20 inch. other than that only when i don't use both of them often. :?

    what resolution do you play TF2 @?

    1680x1050 on max settings. 8800gts 320 mb and a e8400 running at 4 Ghz.

    which kind of graphic design are you going into? are you going to need a rendering powerhouse i would suggest a pc, for portability i would suggest a macbook pro. what exact concentration do you plan on going into for graphic design?
