Hi guys. I was wondering if there were any sites out there that told you how to put together computers? This might help ya a bit. But usually or at least from what I've seen, there are instructions that either come with the motherboard or the case... cant remember which but i think its the motherboard.

But that should give you at least a rough idea about it, but the manual that comes with the motherboard should be able to help you more.

And like they said in one of the films at that link... GROUND YOURSELF, broke my 300$ ram by static electricity and had to buy a new one =/

There are TONS of computer building sites that will help you out. DEFINATELY make sure you are always grounded. Always. But basically, the assembly part is the easiest part, selecting the parts is the hard part. Remember that most components will come with directions in their box as well, but they dont tell you trick of the trade. You should be fine though - its a fun project. They are making PC's easier to build now a days, you dont even need to set dip switched or jumpers on your motherboard for variable clocks anymore - its mostly automatic for example.

Just remember that you dont want to get finger grease on your CPU die and you will be good to go. Just post back arround xmas if you have any problems someone will help you.

Yea. Look around the neighborhood or ask around for friends that may know people who have built systems before. It is always a great idea to have someone looking over you in case you do something wrong. Right now you may be thinking its going to be super hard but in reality it is pretty easy, just takes a little patience.

As green said get a grounding device and make sure to get some thermal paste for your CPU.

He wont need thermal paste because the chances are very large that he has a PIB (processor in a box) aka the retail prcessor with heatsyn and fan - which comes with adequit thermal padding. If he will not overclock it will be fine and I dont reccomending overclocking the first pc buiild for obviouse reasons. Plus, we will want the warranty as long as possible with his first pc.
