Well, I'm planning on getting a new printer tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions. I'm hoping to get one under the price range of $100-150. It must be reliable, fast enough, print double sided. I don't need those little slots for uSD and SD cards.

Update: My price range increase. Nothing like $500. Looking around the 200-300 range.

Ah, good, $150 for double sided may be tough. What are your intended primary uses going to be for the printer? Do you want inkjet or laser?

You can get some of the Kodak printers for under 150. The big selling point of those is the ink isn't nearly as expensive as other inkjet printers. My neighbor has one and it seems to be a decent printer.

i got a cannon mf4150 for 200ish and it prints really fast 21ppm and can photocopie and scan also

I'm hoping to get a laser printer. And by the way, my price range increased.

Like others have said, double sided is rare in small printers that are cheap. 500+ and large laser jets may do it.

Go with HP, but beware of toner/ink prices.

If you print a lot get a nice laser jet. You can print ton of pages with good quality. That is not meant for photographs though. If you need to print photos, which i recommend against it is better to just go to 1 hour at Costco or anywhere and get a nice print cheap, you need ink jet.

I have a HP 2600n that is great. It is old though. If i were to replace mine i would get this one. But shop around.

This has two sided printing.

Or black and white.

Well, by double sided printing, I don't mean it prints both sides at once because those are expensive, yes. I mean I've seen some that print one side, sucks the paper back up and prints the other side. I have a LOT of ppt lecture notes I need to print and that'd save a lot of paper.

All printers print double sided manually. Just take the printed paper and turn it and feed it back in. I do that all the time with my laser jet.

I don't mean like that. It gets annoying doing it manually when you're printing 4 slides on each side. Last term, I was printing about a 100 of these pages front and back. And a lot were flipped because I was confused and in a rush.

I've just seen printers print one page, sits there to let the ink dry, sucks it back up and prints the other side.

Thats what mine does, it sucks it up and prints on it again, the lexmark that i previously mentioned.. for $150..

What you are looking for is called a Duplex Laser Printer. If you don't mind not getting colour then you easily be able to find a printer between 150-200. A quick search reveals many options, especially from the "Brother" line of printers. My family and I have used that brand for years with no problems or breakdowns including several duplex printers.
