tips for GIMP

hey guys, i am new to GIMP and would like to know some tips for making cool looking text.
and dont say, "Get photoshop".
and try to word it to where i can understand it lol

I don't really use The GIMP because I have a full version of Photoshop CS2 (yes, its legit).

Although I know of this guy on YouTube called: GimpKnowHow (click to go to channel)

GIMP is free and easy if you go pro get photoshop but small things are great for GIMP.
