I can't seem to connect. It seems that Macs use the "speex" codec, which is not supported on EG. Any workarounds? Thanks peeps;

edit: this is the message I get:

"Failed to get encoder for specified Codec.

This client platform currently supports only the Speex codec. The server and/or channel is configured to use the 'GSM 6.10' codec."

Thanks again.

erm im not a mac person so im not really sure if you can get that codec for a mac you can try googleing it. other wise you might go down the visulation software root (creates a virtual PC running a different OS in this case you want windows)

Currently Ventrillo Only Supports Speex Codecs for Mac, You should however still be able to connect to the server. On the server there are several speex channels for mac users.
While you wont be able to hear in most channels a few channels such as General Room 7 In both R and PG areas. Those will be the only channels you will be able to talk and hear in.

Thanks for the replies m8s. Yeah, I might give it a try via Windows Virtualization as I have VMWare Fusion.

If you aren't able to connect, you need to set the custom port, I forget the one Ventrilo on Mac uses by default but it should be 29272. When trying to join a room, join one that has (Speex) in the name. General Room 7 supports it. You probably are better off using a VM though.

ya vent is kinda shotting on mac your best off to use a vm or something like WINE or crossovermac if you got both a pc and a mac infront of you there are also apps like synergy for sharing the input devices.

i will check it on wine and see if i can get it going and maybe make a app bundle for vent via wine
