Css spray/ profile issues

Hey guys, my HD recently failed and I lost all my info. So I had to replace my HD, I reloaded steam and css. But in the process I can seem to load sprays, I've had this issue in the past but I dont remember what resolved it. The error is this. When ever I try and add a spray or mess with other settings, such as mouse sensitivity, it "resets" my profile. What is mean by resets is it puts everything but my name back to the default. Also theres an error in the consol:

couldn't exec userconfig.cfg
Host_WriteConfiguration: Wrote cfg/config.cfg

I'm thinking it may be that the folder is read only but im not sure. I make sprays for ppl all the time so I know the sprays settings are right. Any ideads guys?

Hmm which version of windows are you running? Try running steam as administrator and see if that changes anything. It's possible that CS:S doesn't have permission to write to that folder. Or you can change the permissions on your Steam folder to allow read/write/execute by all users.

Im using vista (:() umm 32bit i think. I've tryed checking the read only box, but it keeps staying unchecked. Hummm maybe ill fool around with some stuff later tonight.
 
So you can't load sprays at all to use? Or people not seeing it on the server?
 
You don't want the folder to be read only. You want the box to stay unchecked. Read only means that it can not be written to.

I kinda remeber the problem being something to do with the userconfig or something.

Ok my steam file is read only but the config.cfg isn't.
 
Hey Byakuya either add me to steam or click the chat link in my profile. I have a few things I want you to try but it'd be easier if I could chat with you.
 
Just blow away the config file and start fresh. Technically you dont need a config file at all. Probably one of the settings is resetting the sprays.
