It started about a week ago & I've been trying to figure out whats wrong.

I import the spray in game, join a server & it works. I can change servers & it works. The problem is when I close out the client and come back later my sprays no longer work.

I've tried both tga & vtf formats and it the same thing. Ive uninstalled & reinstalled. Ive downloaded sprays from FPS banana & it does the same thing.

The spray preview shows up correctly in the multiplayer tab in options, but it just wont show ingame after the 1st run.

The sprays show up when I spraytrace the area, but are not visible. I do not have sprays disabled, I can see everyone elses just fine.

I've run out of ideas, please help.

$10 Says you're running Vista or 7.

Problem: Your config.cfg file either doesn't have proper permissions (i.e. hl2.exe tries to write to the file and is told to get over it) or is referencing a file without proper directory structure (program asks for a file located at c:\blah\blah\file.vtf by referencing file.vtf instead of :\blah\blah\file.vtf).

Solution: Try changing the permissions of the config file by adding an "Everyone" user with Read/Write/Exec Ability or by manually editing the file to include the proper path to your spray.

This is assuming quite a few things, but it'll give you a place to start. (I had similar problems with my Favorites and sprays while Beta-testing/RC-testing Win 7)

Best of Luck! Feel free to use online tech support (link in Support-tech's Sigs) for further assistance in real-time!

EDIT* Additional thought....are you using default install directories/structuring? Or are you using the "Public" folder (again assuming Vista or 7) for install?

Actually Im on XP sp3, however I did have my config set to read only.

Ill change that back to normal & see if it solves the prob.

Ya know....someday I'll remember I'm on a different kind of network....:facewall:

Use of the "Everyone" user permission setting is --NOT-- recommended on networks / computers that use file shares of any kind. It is also not recommended to be used on computers with static NAT routes pointing to any port on your machine. Instead, use the permissions settings for your local machine's account (your user and/or administrative user).

Sorry for any inconvenience.
