680i vs x38 ZOMG NORTHBRIDGE MY FACE

kk i am gonna build my soopah compootah soon and I am very confused. Is sli worth it? I can't find a decent sli capable mother board that will support ddr3. I want this mobo to last me awhile and i want it to be intel because they have better benchmarks. There are no mobos with an nvidia northbridge and are ddr3. I want this computer to be the most insano it can get so liek what does the gaming community think? Has anybody heard any news from nvidia about making a northbridge that can support ddr3?

It's 4am... I will respond to this later. I dont have the energy right now. While I am gone ponder this: if you want your computer to be the best ever that you are willing to spend this kind of money on and use the latest technology and choose intell because of benchmarks - why then are you willing to accept any nVidia made chipset that supports SLI instead of choosing the chipset that benches the best?

Case and point: I would rather have an nForce2 or an nForce4 northbridge than an nForce3. When they were released they had a bug reducing aproximately 13% of your graphics power on the AGP port. I am sure this has since been firmware updated but the point remains.

if you were looking longevity and a good SLI mobo possibly wait a little longer? I hear that they are comming into the final stages of getting sli working on x38 chipsets and that could prove very nice

jimbo i heard otherwise that nvidia is going to hold out or they will lose their marketing edge and some profit if they give intel their power of sli. Link me an article i am blowing steam out my ports

Let prices drop a bit with the holiday season. Nvidia is starting to release a bunch of new stuff so just wait and see what it is and then go from there. I know waiting is a hard process but I did and it was well worth it.

X38. It supports PCIe 2.0 and I believe it also supports Penryn. SLI is a waste of money unless you're playing on a 30" @ 2560x1600.
