In-game i've screenshot every knife kill i've gotten.
then when i open them you can barely read the names because of poor quality.
Is there any way to make it so that when you screenshot something that it takes better quality screenshots.
Perhaps saving them as a .tga rather than a JPEG.
If i posted in the wrong forum free to move it.

Wow the quality is that bad? My screenshots are jpg and the quality is fine.

Try this in console.

jpeg_quality //Sets jpeg screenshot quality (1 is lowest quality, 100 is highest quality) Default = 90

that is really strange, the default quality for screen shots is not that bad for me. What program are you using to view your screen shots?

Just use XFire / Fraps for your in-game footage / shots.

Fraps will even tell you your frames, if you don't use a net_graph in CSSource.

well you should only have a few pics to work on if you only take screenshots of your knife kills :P

Something like that happened for my WoW Screenshots. I figured out that its something about the resolution of your desktop, and you can't fix the pics that are ruined, you can just change ur resolution and then take new pics. I don't remember why it does that though. Google is your friend.

I dont know what might cause that....

I use the standard F5 in-game screen shot and its awesome quality!!!

I dont understand how the quality could be less...
It's just making a copy of the information on your screen
Maybe try messing around with your counter-strike in-game options

ya just add the jpeg_quality 100 in your autoexec file and that should work. do a couple of test runs. for best results set your desktop res either at the same or higher resolution than your game, and try some test runs with running the game in window and fullscreen. i have no idea why it would make it so crappy.
i do know that sometimes such as on dust2 if you have a name falling right on the walls (depending where you are) you cannot read the name, it just looks like crap...but ya doesn't really sound like that is your problem either

JunK is right on target here I think if quality doesn't change it try changing your desktop resolution
