Nope, I haven't. Do you mean lower it from 800mhz to something like 400mhz? And why would it hold it back? My RAM speed doesn't change when I increase my CPU frequency since I have a black edition processor and only have to move the multiplier.
And I seem to be stable at 3.4Ghz @ 1.425 Volts. (10 Hours of Prime95)
Because you could not only increase the multiplier, you could raise the HT Ref. Clock frequency. But that also increases the frequency of your ram, northbridge, and HyperTransport Link
My ram is 667MHz (showing as 333 (333 per channel, so it's at 667)), but I downclocked it to 266MHz with the HT ref at 200, and increased voltage from 1.325 to 1.35 while raising the HT ref to 250. And now my ram is at 667 (normal speed) but with my proc at 3.5 instead of 2.8
