Anyone got one of these?

ya i don't buy that you can just fill it with oil and be done with like a lot of those videos do, you definitely need a pump and radiator to give it some cooling properties. after long term use/gaming it would heat up the oil enough that you really need movement and alternate cooling or else it will fry everything, literally.

also, with the cpu you just put on the heatsink but not the fan?? i guess? or should you keep the fan on it to keep the movement of oil throughout the heatsink....ya i guess that would be best, but also my first thought was you're going to damage the fans since they cannot run at their RPM.

Well, it will slowly dissipate the heat as the oil transfers it towards the outside of the casing. But yeah, it would be more effective if the oil is cycled around.

I don't think there should be any long term effects. Oil is just like really dense air. Yes, it will probably damage your fans because of the huge resistance oil will create.

What would be even cooler is to build the casing out of metal and cover it completely with heatsinks. Then have several pumps cycling the oil. Heat will be transferred to the heatsinks thus dissipating the heat continuously. Plus, it will look awesome! Like a big spikey computer case.

on the site they say the oil takes about 12hrs to heat up to a point where it can't hold any more heat

so i dont think thats a problem

see those temps are pretty crazy hot at 88c on the cpu, but that is really amazing once you put a rad in there. 50c load at 4.6ghz and it looks amazing and is quiet as hell. this is definitely something that is quite amazing. it would be very interesting to try to put something like that together with like my rig. it would be pretty easy, just get an aquarium (could even make my own pretty easily) with a motherboard tray...that would most likely need to be bought as well as a radiator.
how much do rads like that go for anyway, its a pretty big one.
also i didn't read through the entire thing yet, but how exactly are your other components connected to it? like the monitor, power cord mouse keyboard etc, is that all under the oil too?
and wouldn't your video card fan push the oil out of its exhaust slot and spray it everywhere if it wasn't completely submerged too? lol

Well, you can get video cards without the fan. Or you could take it off.

They sell a complete kit with a rad.

And since your voiding your warranty, with the oil, you might aswell install an AM HS/f on your GPU

ya but why buy the complete kit when you could just build it yourself all customized, would be a lot cheaper too. just have to figure out how to mount the dvd drive since that can't very well be under the oil

Get SSDs lol :)

This is so much easier with distilled water
you can do the same thing

Except distilled water isn't 100% free of minerals and ions. Close to it but not completely. Even steam distilled is like 99.xxxx% It's easier with oil or they would've used water in the first place.

You know what'd be even cooler? Using some type of cooling gel with a low heat capacity. It'd easily transfer heat into rads or heat sinks and look amazing.

what about hardrives would they need to be stored outside of the oil due to moving parts.

that would depend on the user i ussuly keep my gaming rig running for a few days at a time and my 2 headless linux boxes have been running for the last 6 months with no restarts.

so the oil would need to be cycled to allow it to cool and to keep oil that can still store heat around the components.

Oil will not prevent heat it actually makes it worse.....like when u get a burn you dont put oil or butter or such on it because the oil makes it blister worse by holding in the heat

Pretty sure you could solve this by using mineral water instead of mineral oil, but I could be wrong.

I'd seen mineral oil used before.
But I hadn't seen this.
