BF2 Problem with Punkbuster

I've reinstalled BF2 and patched it all the way up to the most recent patch but when I go to play a game, I get in for about 5 minutes then get kicked by punkbuster.

The error I encounter is as follows:
Punkbuster kicked player ' xStrike93x' (for 0 minutes) ... RESTRICTION: Service Communication Failure: PnkBstrB.exe initialization failed

Now I went to evenbalance to update Punkbuster to the most recent version but I still get the same thing.

Can anyone help me with this? I'd like to play BF2 again. By the way, It's only happening with BF2. If I play CSS, DoD, TF2, or any other game in the matter it's fine.

Well out of the games you listed only BF2 uses punkbuster, it maybe that your firewall is blocking punkbuster.

Check that your firewall isnt blocking anything. If all else fails, turn firewall off for while playing the game (very bad idea, but if you need to do it.)


All else fails, re-install the game completely or try running it under xp sp3 mode

Fixed it by re-installing BF2 and uninstalling PB and then reinstalling it.
