MW2 vs BC2 comparisons

This thread is kind of asking for flame wars.

I'm not defending MW2 or anything, I love BC2 of course. They may be of the same general genre (FPS), but they're both good games for what they offer.

BC2 is a tad bit more realistic, larger maps and vehicular warfare, whereas MW2 is smaller, more arcade-y and allows for run and gun - where one person can literally can decide the turning point of a match.

BC2 is not. It takes more than one good player, it takes an entire team to work together to actually get anywhere unlike MW2.

Everyone in eGO should be mature and responsible. So a thread on a sensitive topic such as this posted in an eGO forum should not get out of hand.

Now that I've established that I do want to comment on the actual topic at hand. Even if Noxx thinks otherwise I do believe the games cannot be compared. They are both First Person Shooters but they are very different. Battlefield is more tactical and realistic with bigger maps, vehicles, and weaker gun damage. Modern Warfare 2 is a fast-paced, arcade type shooter with small maps and quicker deaths.

Hence, each game excels in different areas and they each have their pro's and con's. Taking that out of the context I would rate each game on the level of fun that I've had playing them. And then the winner would most definitely be Battlefield. Not only do dedicated servers make the game-play more fun, but I like that Battlefield is more team based and everyone has to work together. I also enjoy being in Ventrilo with an active squad and coordinating attacks. It adds another dimension to the game. Opposed to Modern Warefare 2 in which one person can completely dominate and destroy the other team. I found MW2 to be fun when I was on a good team, but when I was on a bad team I would get harassed with kill-streaks like Harrier air-strikes and Chopper Gunners and the fun would be zapped out of the game.

So once again, based on level of fun while playing the game it goes to Battlefield.

I like the Singe player on MW2 more, but the multiplayer is much better on BC2

I agree, single player blows. But who plays battlefield for single player?

I used to play MW2(just a lil as some might know ) and I agree hands down I wish I could get my money back from IW. In my opinion it was a pretty good time waster til BC2 came out. Its alot better than DoD and that was the only "good" game I had at the time... but I still wish I could get my cash back.. I feel that I was robbed at gun point(n00b tube) by some helpless mentally challenged 10 year old(Boo-Yea!!)

Any who I'll never play that game again.

BC2 is 1000x better than MW2. the dedicated servers help.

I played MW2 on the weekend pass and to be honest I wish I had got that instead of BC2!
I love BC2 but MW2 seems a little more detailed to me even though it's so arcade-like
The weapons sound a bit cheap but if MW2 had destructable environment like BC2 It would be so much more cool! I like the fact that in MW2 you can lay on the ground like 99.99% of soldiers do in real life. You can climb walls! If I had the cash I would get MW2 the end!

Yes I did waste my time on MW2 I went all the way to 10th prestige lvl 70:w00t::chair:, but I gotta say it was a good time waster:thumbup1:

BC2 is hands down the best game I have right now. The destructible environments part is some of the best computer graphic engineering I have seen in a long time:O. Oh can't forget to mention about the squad type gameplay of BC2, u can get away with all the crap u want in MW2. All in all BC2 is is a worthwhile purchase and is 100% better than MW2.

I hear ya. I tried to do the prone with my sniper class on MW2 and man, these shots are like point blank compared to the long distance shots I'm used to doing on BC2. I feel so uncomfortable using prone and being a sniper on MW2 because its created to be more of a close quarters combat game, plus people on MW2 go knife crazy on there so it defeats the purpose of being in prone. They should have just swapped prone with BC2 and gave MW2 no prone. It suits each game well considering the consequences.

But in my own opinion, if there were dedicated servers I would consider buying the game if it was on sale for $20. No dedicated servers is just a terrible game play experience for me. I will avoid any P2P gaming after experiencing it for the first time on MW2.

Wow, that's a pretty bold statement. I thought that BC2 was more detailed.

i haven't played MW2 not going to haha still on boycott but from what my friends have told me and also by reading the thread i have concluded that if u like cool perks and junk get MW2 but if u like Multiplayer get BC2 and on and on

In my opinion you can't compare BC2 and MW2 because they are two different games. BC2 is a larger mapped game with a variety of vehicles along with other infused bullet ballistics that MW2 does not have. On the other side, MW2 is a great game with exellent graphics and a fast pase game, along with the kill streaks that no other game has ever used. (like getting a nuke)

Great, that's all I wanted to know before purchasing the game. I don't usually pay $49 for a game unless its Blizzard game, but the thought that its still cheaper than MW2 makes BC2 that much more appealing.
