Apart from boosting the trend once and record 3D highest grossing film history, Avatar continues to break records. This time set a record on DVD and Blu-ray discs in just five days, selling 6.7 million units in the U.S. alone, beating "Batman, the Dark Knight."
Blu-ray, the total came to 1.2 million in its first day and 2.7 million from Thursday until today. The Batman movie held the record with 2.5 million copies sold in 18 months. While the mark is impressive, one of the "aid" that was available was an increase in the base of Blu-ray players installed in homes.
That is not the only move by Fox to get the juice to your gold nugget. The version that is available only contain the film, without any surprises or additional elements. The special edition will arrive in October, while the stereo version will do only in 2011.
