Finalized Purchase
Just wanted to give an update on my purchase which was received and fully assembled. I just wanted to give my thanks to the posters on this thread for their awesome advice, special thanks to reflex99.
My full specs are on the first page and I'm glad I settled with the i5 750. Decided that hyper-threading wasn't worth the trouble trying to decide between i7 860 and i7 930. I also love the Antec 300, it doesn't look riced out and it has 5 fan grates for $45.
I was going for the Corsair power supply, but the Antec PSU is manufactured by the same Seasonic supplier and is cheaper as it is quiet. Also, I have to hand best value award to Samsung for making a quality designed terabyte harddrive for $74 and their 22" monitor. The monitor is super sexy with its aesthetic design + power-saving features and I was fortunate to buy it for $170 before they raised the price tag. As for the wireless D-link adapter, it does a good job (not excellent). I bought it because it uses the 1x PCIe slot, but their software needs improvement because Athero's software does a better job than them.
Anyway, Win7 Ultimate 64 is definitely a nice piece of software. College students get a great discount, I have heard some people got it free.
I only get anti-virus subscription paid for by my college.
Finally, the Prolimatech Megahelm or should I say Megatron? This thing looks likes a transformer with an Autobot logo and its huge as hell. I never seen such a big heatsink. Anyway I stuck a Scythe Kaze Jyuni fan on it and its been keeping my stock i5 750 at 25c during the night and 35c during the day. Heavy loads and it hits 45c as indicated by Coretemp. I'm not sure if that's good, but I'm hoping to overclock this thing as well as the Asus DirectCU HD5850. I bought Bad Company 2, so I'll see how it performs in that.
I bought these through the eGO mall links, so hopefully a decent amount was donated. Anyway I'm happy with my purchases, eGO members are definitely awesome. I might ask for help later when I overclock.
