computer issues

since monday gone my computer has had issues and i dont know wot the hell is happening

first of all the computer kept freezing up whilst on internet browser and taking ages to come bk but stopped me doing anything else on me comp as totally froze up......

i reformatted the computer back to factory settings but for some reason it Fail to set up the nvidia drivers ETC...............

after this the computer was still freezing out ETC............... so done another reinstall and seemd to installed everything without issue

so though i was back in action............ so installed all programmes without problems vent/mirc/steam - dod source
bookmark all my internet favs and nothing freezed up then i loaded dod source and was on there like 2 minutes max with out firing a single shot then soon as i see an enemy he fires 2 shots to my 1 and it freezes up and comp freezes for like 5 minutes max then game is gone everything else seems to be ok now apart from the game side

could this possibley be the gfx card ?

When you say you reformatted your computer back to factory settings, are you doing a clean install of (I'm guessing) Windows? Or are you using some sort of backup software?

it sets it back to how it was when u first get it out the box




and the gfx = nvidia GeForce 9500 GS

A 512MB card can definitely run DOD:S.
Your specs are good with 4 gigs and a quad.

Have you tried updating to the latest drivers that Nvidia provides?
Have you got any messages from S.M.A.R.T. lately?

nope is it worth doing it ? not a clue wot and where to look

almost sounds to me like a Hijacker/Trojan is useing up your resources... run virus scans with multiple programs, clean temp folders, delete history, and clean the registry.

ok issued not resolved checked logs and got error device/raidport0 anyone know wot this is

it is a device error usually related to video - appears to be common among nVidia based chipsets.

Yes, it's always "good" to update to the latest drivers that work.

If you didn't get any messages from S.M.A.R.T., I'd eliminate the HDD failure option.

Download the latest video driver from here.

Try playing again, see if its resolved.

i thought S.M.A.R.T was only for Western Digital hard drives? lol

and yeah it may be your gpu, just because it is strong enough to run the game doesn't mean it its self hasn't gotten damaged somehow

S.M.A.R.T. works on all my drives, along with RAID.

Hmm, next bet would prolly be to benchmark it, then. See if its working 100%
cos if you're supposed to get 200 frames max and you look to see your GPU only outputting 50-75, then yea.
it'll also reveal the quality of the card and some other things
