Hello everyone. I could use some information with a problem im having in my PC. Lately it's been having those feared blue screens but just restarted and continued without any problem. But since the past week it froze while in mid-game on any game.

At first I though that it was some random error, but the problem keep ocurring time and time again, until it just didn't let the PC even restart itself. I've downloaded Avast Antivirus and did a full scan of my PC and found nothing. Then I though it was the video card that was messed up, so I removed it and connected to the internal one.

I did a system restore and things seems to get back to normal, but now, when I was looking for a new video card to buy, the problem appeared again. Here's what happened. At first it just looked like some images where missing and in game some random colored rectangles appeared. Then outside games, sometimes everything slowed down to a halt. Finally now it just appear to not be able to project the image right, and things like the Start bar or msn just seems to jump in place.

I have no idea what could posibly be causing those kind of errors, so heres my question: What can cause something like that? Hardware, software, bad OS (windows 7 in this PC btw). Any and all help will be appreciated.

It doesnt sound like a OS issue. So you said you hooked it up to your onboard video card and the same thing occured. If so sounds like your mobo is the issue. If not plug back in your GPU and install some new drivers.

Can you give us the information provided by the BSOD? You can go into computer management and grab a log of it in there.

I did plugged back the GPU and the same thing happened in 5 to 8 minutes, problems all around.

Well I found the computer management... but that's a hole new science for me. Where do I find the log of the BSOD in there? Looked around and found this, but not sure if it is what you mean. If it's not could you help me get the right info?

Still sounds like a mobo issue to me. How old is it and what's the model?

Do a prime95 test to see if the mobo is the issue
Do a memtest to see if the memory is faulty.

After googleing your error, I see a lot of people just pointing to newest NVidia driver.
Whats your antivirus program?

Random colored rectangles? Called artifacts by the way.

From my experience, artifacts only appear when I overclock my GPU too much or when my GPU is overheating. I also experience BSOD when overclocking my CPU too much, but I doubt any of those problems can be related to yours.

Try the things said earlier. Also, if you could write down the error code when you get a BSOD (write it on a piece of paper) and post it here, it would be much easier to assist you. The code should look like this: 0x0000005F.

If the screen disappears before you can write it down, I would suggest taking a picture of it would be the easiest since I'm not sure what settings to edit and where they are to prevent it from disappearing after 1-2 seconds.

Will try to do them, but might be impossible since now it wont be on for more than 5 minutes some times...while other times it might be running for 20 or 25 minutes. The driver is the same one that I had far before the problem started
And the Anti virus is avast! Antivirus.

Like 4 to 6 years... cant remember exactly but IT'S OLD. Since it seems it wont turn on, I'll type what I think is the model from the MOBO itself...
Intel Desktop Board
CPU-DQ965GF
BQGF7020007U AA D41676-400<<That code was below the codebar in the MOBO

Problem with the BSOD it that it has only happened while playing some game (does not matter which game) and the only way to play them is with the video card on. If I start the PC with it, it just crashes, screen freezes and it dont respond to anything. Last time I did turn it on but with the integrated card only, and it stayed on for some time, but it cant run any games with the integrated Video Card.

Lastly, I removed all the RAM cards, and the MOBO did the 3 beep warning. I've been replacing them but the problem persist.

Have you ran any .bat fils latly from a not too trusted source? have you updated your gfx card or anything might just be a new software too boot your pc in safe mode and see if it still happens

I had it on (in safe mode) for around 5 hours verifying that it was not a virus/ ad/ spam or something like it. If I connect it to the internal video card, I can work on it, but sometimes it gives signs of trouble (Start bar goes nuts changing colors and the like). Still, it haven't done anything like that with the integrated card in quite a while. Will try running an old game to see if something happen.

Right now I'm with the integrated running the Prime95 recommended. All 4G's of RAM are being tested, but no trouble have appeared.

Could it be the video card that it's somehow malfunctioning? It's a Nvidia GeForce 9800 1G of speed.

---- I was able to run TF2 with the integrated card and nothing happened (laggy as hell but that's because of the integrated, not problem related). Now it seems to me that the problem is more video card related. Anyone can confirm that this problem could be the video card and not the MOBO? I dont want to spend $200 on a new video card to find out its the MOBO.

Alright so boot with your Integrated Graphics card and into safe mode, Go into Device Manager and delete your Video Cards's driver in the display adapters. Then try installing the latest drivers.

Or instead of going into Device Manager, go and download Driver Cleaners Pro, http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745 and delete using that. Make sure to be on Integrated Graphics and Safe mode!

About this... I re-installed windows 7 from scratch and started to place it all back together (drivers, anti virus, all the basics) Just after 2 hours it gave another blue screen

I got it back up again in safe mode and it gave me a report of the blue screen:
