Hello,

I am trying to use the eGO vent server on my mac (10.6.3) but when I login to it, I get this message:

Failed to get encoder for specific Codec.

This client platform currently supports only the Speex codec. The server and/or channel is configured to use the 'GSM 6.10' codec.

I cannot hear anybody even when the list shows someone talking in the same channel.

Mac's only use a Speex Codec, while most use GSM 6.10, or something like that. I'm not sure how you'd be able to get that codec for the mac version. Vent channels are only to be altered by the owners of the channel itself, and I do believe we have a few Speex channels.

If you use different Codecs, you can't hear anything between the two.

Yea, I read around that apparently the gsm codec dosent have a version for the mac. That sucks, I was hoping I would be able to chat with yall in vent.

Looked and saw that some people were able to get it running through Wine but it appears that PTT dosent work which would make it pointless.

Looks like the GSM codec wont be coming to mac since it is licensed by Microsoft.

Do you know which channels use Speex?

Thanks for the fast reply by the way.

All the rooms that run Speex have in the title of the channel just like this "Room 3 (Speex)" Click the thumbnail below. This will show you the channel you need for TF2.
