Would you agree that the ranking system in BC2 is anything but competitive?

Granted, no one can just whiz right on up to rank 50, but still it's really not that hard in comparison to the original BF2

Remember when you actually had to diversify your abilities and get ranked in each of the classes just to advance in rank?

idk I just feel like BC2 has lost some of that competitive edge that BF2 had and the actual dedication that it took to reach high ranks. Too often do I see people in the 30's and 40's running around with the predictable loadout of a CG or an M60 racking up points like crazy but not necessarily being able to use any other weapon/class

Lol are you kidding me? BFBC2 is battlefield dumbed down completely. Just think of it. BF2/BF2142 had max 64 players, had actual Jets, had commanders, 6 player squads, WAY more gadgets and not just "perks" but actual gadgets like the support class had the turret in 2142, and recon had the invisibility gadget. Not to mention 2142 had the titan gameplay which is more epic than any multiplayer game can ever get. And the last rank requires actual dedication because obtain it you would compete for it against everyone in the world. Oh yeah and did I mention 2142 had freaking battle walkers?

I remember bunny hopping, dolphin diving, c4 jumping, prone, airplanes, all that fun stuff. And DICE was incapable of fixing things so they just removed them.
 
BF2 took just an insane amount of time to lvl up... But it was well worth it.

2142 did not take alot of time to get all the weapons unlocked really. I think it took just about the same time in bc2 as it did in 2142 to get all my weapons.

I wish the next battlefield comes out with a nice balance in between of bf2 and bc2 lvling system for the unlocks next time... But in reality I hope alot of other things are fixed before that should happen :/

Exactly.....

Like you wouldn't just see a bunch of 4-Star Gen's walking around like you do now - they literally earned it for being the best. Same goes for some of the special rankings like Master Sergeant of the Corps or w.e it was
 
BF2142 Titan mode. That brings back so many memories...

Anyway, I was actually going to purchase BC2 on Steam since it was on sale, but after hearing all the stuff they took out, I don't know....

It's like going from Tribes 2 to Tribes: Vengence all over again.

Though BF:BC2 has its problems. Seems to me that all of you are playing it and having fun so I guess the makers of the game did their job ;):)

Then lets see if BF3 comes out later (Hopefully for PC). BC2 is probably another MW2. Its a waste your time game till a better one comes out later.

i remember hwen 2142 was the best game i ever player. I can't play it now because i lost my cd key.
 
I remember the good days, BC2 get's sort of stale after you unlock everything.
I want to restart my profile over leveling to 50
 
i miss bf2...i wish they would remake it like just update the graphics, physics, engine ect but make it the way it was in the old days it was so fun..i liek bad company 2 but i canl;t get into it i wa slike lvl 30 before i still played bf2 im level 4 on bad company 2

Battlefield 3. Now that will be epic. PC exclusive because obviously consoles wouldn't be able to handle the epicness.

I can't either because I have to keep my external optical drive tethered to my laptop to play it. The thing is a pain to transport. Not good times, not good times at all

That stuff was AMAZINGGGG!!!! and that mode really captured what the Battlefield Franchise really tried to grasp - teamwork. You really had to work together to make sure you could A get on the enemy titan, B kill anyone on it, and C gtfo when you blew it up hahah

idk I just wish they would really update this ranking/award system to provide greater challenges for players and keep it interesting since you would really have to go out of your comfort zone in BF2 to get the awards for those other kits that you wouldn't normally use and they had all the awards for superior combat skills and achievements
