Video Card Suggestions

Hey guys,

I currently have an ATI X1200 series card and I hate it, I barely get over 15 fps when I'm playing COD4 on the bigger maps. Sometimes if I look down the length of Crossfire it goes down to 5 fps.

This obviously makes fraggin' much harder.

Anyways I'm looking for a card that can run COD4 well (I only play this game pretty much) for $60- $90 (US or Canadian) so if anyone has suggestions, thanks!

AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core Processor 2200Mhz
Windows Vista Home Premium
ATI Radeon X1200 Series
Power supply: 300W

Hm. A 4650 is the most I would recommend for that PSU.

300W Powersupply. Omg and i thought i was bad with my PSU. Your kinda screwed i think. Most video cards needs 350 Minimum most likely. I'm using a 9500GT and it needs 350 Minimum and i got 400W PSU. I'm lucky kinda..

Save you a buck, Newegg has horrible shipping deals.
I've dealt with them and Canadians get shoveled a bit, even when they have they're own warehouse in Ontario

There are some low power versions of the 9800GT at MC on sale for $89. Dunno if you have a Microcenter closeby, probably not but check the egg for it .

There are better cards than the 4650 that you can consider.

I ran an 8400GS, which has a suggested wattage of 350, on a 250w psu.

Any of these cards (in order of performance, high to low) will run fine on your PC:


-nVidia 9800GT(not quite sure your PSU can handle it, might be a stretch)
nVidia GT 240 (doesn't use much power, ever so slightly slower than the 9800GT)
-ATi 4670 (faster than the 4650)
-ATi 4650 ( I really wouldn't go here, the 4670 is the same price, and much faster)
-ATi 5550 (uses the least power of any of these cards, DX11)
-nVidia GT 220 (Zotac offers a lifetime warranty, and is generally a good brand
