I used to be able to play DOD for long periods of time with a "Vertex buffer" error occasionally. Now I cannot play 10mins without DOD crashing with the same error.

I run a laptop.. I know. I have an nVidia GeForce Go 6150 graphics card and I can't find an update for it later than early 2006.

What are my options here? I'm not computer savy but I can navigate and operate one. =P
 
well, acording to nvidias website the 6150 falls under the latest forcewarfe 169 drivers which were created in December of 07 (this month). You can try to use the latest drivers and see if that makes a diffrence.

Also, updates to dod via steam may be the reaosn why you find the error more often than before, they oftne make tweaks and visual upgrades which can sometimes take more from your gpu - sometimes less if it os an optimization.

Can you give the exact error message?
 
Can you give me the link to the nVidia upgrade? I've been searching and searching google to no avail.


It just crashes on me about 5 minutes ago but I didn't copy the message. Something about a Mesh this and Lock that. I can go into detail when I play probably tomorrow.

I am not going to provide a link directly but you should know hwo to update them for the future.

If you have an nVidia card then goto www.nvidia.com
On the top there is a horizontal bar that is a silver menu bar. Goto downloads -> driver downloads.

Then it will ask you to pick which card you have, which operating system you use and what language you want the download to be in. If you have a geforce 6150 then you may have to select geforce 6 series card.

Then it will show you the availible updates and download and install them.
 
The Nvidia website will not let me download the driver update because:

" HP requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site.

I go to www.hp.com and the only driver update it gives me is the aforementioned driver from early 2006. Would it be possible for you to download the install file and email it to me? PM me for the email. Otherwise, can you give me the direct link to the download. Argh!
 
Nevermind. My girlfriend has downloaded and burned it to CD for me. She takes care of her gamer lol... here's hoping!

Oookay.. nevermind that too because those drivers are not compatible... argh!
