CS:S Smoke Lag

When i run through smoke i lag really bad, and i was wondering if any of you know how to fix this problem?

When there is an explosion or some sort of special effects in the game, it will lag a bit. For example...I'm playing highschool, and my teammate sticks me with a smoke. Then, 3 CT's throw their nades straight at me, this will cause my game to lag.

Any special effects in game will decrease your FPS a bit.

I know how to fix it:

Throw less smoke nades!

That will do it or you can lower game settings specially resolution. If that didn't improve the gameplay you can always search for a new video card

Ahh nevermind. I have a iMac i can't take things out my computer.

yeah even though CSS was made available for the MAC i'm not sure how stable it always is

yea its fine on my comp, but then again i get like 300 fps a majority of the time

try using -dxlevel 81, -dxlevel 80 or -dxlevel 70 in your games launch options, you'l gain an FPS boost.

TheMightyDerk, I also use an iMac, one of the basic ones, and i get extreme lag when running near by smoke, that's probably due to my 1GB of Ram.. Getting a gaming cpu soon though!

The DXlevel wont change anything btw, and you dont want to change it too low, some servers won't let you join with it..
