Hello:crying:,

I bought a WD 1TB Extern Hard disc to store some movies and stuff.

USB2.0 speed = 480Mb/s
Device speed = 480Mb/s @ 7200rpm

But... now im moving stuff from my PC to the device, and it goes with 20MB/s-.-
Its taking ages, becaus i have to move over 100GB to it.

Does somebody know how to solve this? Btw i already did the "Device" --> "properties" --> "beter performance" thingy.

~Bird :(

Is the HDD directly connected to the computer, or is it connected to a hub which connects to the computer?

Also, I know you mentioned about enabling something in properties. Did you enable write caching? That can help performance some.

How i enable that?:)

Just because my pc is bad :P

Enabling or Disabling the Disk Write Caching
Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
Click the Hardware tab. (Or just search device manager)
Click Device Manager.
Click the plus sign (+) next to the Disk Drives branch to expand it.
Right-click the drive on which you want to enable or disable disk write caching, and then click Properties.
Click the Disk Properties tab.
Click to select or clear the Write Cache Enabled check box as appropriate.
Click OK.

What he said :P

Let us know if it helps any with performance

That speed is about right for write speed

Mb != MB

You will get approximately 25MB/s writes, and 33MB/s reads.

USB2.0 is pretty slow

Your drive is fine.

Ok thanks,

Is was already on, so no result.

So 480Mbit/s is the same as 25MB/s ?

480Mbit = ~60MB

But USB can never reach it's rated speed except in short bursts.

Your drive is performing just fine.

If you want to go faster, look in to eSATA, or USB3.0 rated at 3Gb/s and 5Gb/s respectively

But as with USB2.0, USB3.0 cannot reach it's rated speed all the time either, so eSATA is actually faster.

Here is a converter:

Ok thanks:) My pc only has USB 2.0 connections so USB 3.0 is no option.

Thanks for the information tho:)
