Definitely start out with the original BC2, because those unlocks will transfer on over to Vietnam.

Is Vietnam worth getting? Yes it is. It's a breath of fresh air from the original game.

The unlocks transfer both ways, so you should get it because you may enjoy it more to start with and as you advance in it, it will open up new option in both vietnam and normal, making normal a little easier with the better weapons. It does work both ways but since Vietnam has fewer weapons you start on a more level playing field.

Vietnam is amazing and worth every penny!
In regrades of which one to start playing first; the original is the best choice but both games have the same mechanics so it's really up to you!

It's definitely a different approach to regular BC2. Fire fights are generally more up close, and maps provide varied and different angles to Rush and Conquest.

I say start off with regular BC2, as the vietnam learning curve will be much easier...with regular BC shooting distance and bullet drop are very much present, in. In vietnam i think the longest headshot ive gotten anything for was +20 in game which isnt very far considering my longest headshot was +376 in BC2

Vietnam is a nice refresher but if you like sniping you probably wont like it in vietnam as much. I'd start with regular to find out how much you like the game and if you like it a lot then I recommend getting Vietnam it is a ton of fun.

Druidsd, get both of what lol I already have BFBC2, Vietnam, and Spec Act! lol the only thing I am missing is an AR15!

I would start on BC 2 normal. I am pretty good at BC 2 normal and I die A LOT in vietnam even after being used to the regular game. I think the learning curve is much steeper in vietnam, so would be more of a progression to go to after you have gotten used to the original. Although.... maybe that's my problem. maybe I got too used to the advanced weapons and tech and that's why I die so much. Maybe you would do better in vietnam if you started out there instead of vice versa. Over all BC 2 original is a much better game though. (I miss my motion sensors. :()

It would only be a breath of fresh air if you had already been playing BC2 for several months. Seeing as how he hasn't already been playing the game, the original game will still seem new and fresh.

I bought both during the Christmas Steam sale, and while I'm glad that I bought Vietnam to try it out, I much prefer regular BC2.
