Thoughts about seriousness and gaming.

Thank you everyone for your input! A lot of good information here that I think we all need to just take a look at. It's easy to get caught up in everything, but we just need to go back to basics and rethink how our actions are affecting others.

I typically don't use vent, not necessarily because of all the admins going on, but for me it was always just a personal preference i don't like the excess chatter going on, anyone whos played with me and knows my scores, that gives an idea of why i dont play in vent :D, if you do catch me in vent im probably in the "Game Talk only" channel. But, regarding the original message of this post, i have noticed alot of newer admins and even recruits going at pubbers who break any rule like rabid pitbulls, i would only ever consider jumping into issues that have escalated, or continued server disturbance, but if its something small i will typically ignore it so long as its not something serious in nature. as alot of irrelevant issues tend to end fairly quickly and its the people around who exacerbate the problem...

Fun Failing Fast

I appreciate all the info also, as an =(e)=, I have not been to admin training and I try my damnedest to keep the peace and have fun. But now I have new insights and will try my best to abide by them. I do have a few question though.

I know that when no eG or eGO are on then I should try and calm the server but what should I do when there ARE eG, or eGO on and they are not doing anything about a problem.

What also do I do if they are doing nothing about it AND they are not on vent, it definitely does not seem like the correct action would be to say something in game. I can ask em to hop on vent but beyond that what should I do?

I play alot of HC Rush and sometimes, I cant even have fun playing because I am too busy chasing someone else down in vent to handle a problem. And the bad thing is that when people see the server disruption not being handled then it escalates into something more and the 1 disruptive person turns into 10 and that makes me not even want to play.

A few days ago, it got so bad that I made another character so I could come in and play without being so frustrated.

I like bc2, I like the people in eGO, I would like to have fun!

In all honesty, even when there are higher ranking eGO members around, it's perfectly okay to speak up, give a warning, or give a friendly reminder about eGO rules to players that are not behaving. Just do it in a helpful "reminder" way!

Your best bet might be to quickly alt-tab, message a member of leadership, and ask them to handle whatever server situation is going on. That way you're not having to ask eGO members ingame to handle a situation or get onto Ventrilo. Again, you can always give a reminder!

This happens sometimes and an admin in the server can easily quell the trouble by throwing up a !yell message that appears in the center of the screen. That usually calms everyone down. I'd definitely suggest having eG and eGO members on your Steam friends list so that if there's a situation going on, you can message them and ask them to hop into a server! If that's not an option, there's usually a leadership member around that can help you.

Hope that clears up your questions!

A lot of us in Mod division have BC2 but have all come to agree that the BC2 vent rooms aren't very welcoming so we just stay in our own division rooms.
I've been in eGO a year and it's no reason I should feel like I'm jumping into a room full of punks when I join the BC2 vent room because it's eGO so it should be just like any other division of the clan.
Thanks a lot for making this post Slazenger because a few of us have been talking about this for a while and I was going to make a post like this but I think you said everything in a much better why than I would of lol!

GREAT POST SLAZ! I was thinking about this issue a couple of weeks ago but didnt know if I was the only one concerned about it. Hopefully this thread gets alot of attention by all members. Its going to become increasingly harder to recruit and retain members if our servers are a hostile place to play and socialize.

Just a few days ago I was on and was noticing alot of the poor attitude stuff there was an e and eG on both raging in the main chat in game alot. The server was about 1/2 full and the eG was calling people cheaters for using vehicles, he was then stating that it was a "Server Rule" that when the server was not full then vehicles were not to be used. I asked him several times to get into vent so I could let him know how he was acting was disruptive to game play and that no such rule existed. What are we to do about stuff like this? I keep hearing more and more negative stuff about BFBC2 eGO and the attitude its members of all rank carry.

Try to get a hold of one of the leadership members through Steam or vent. Let them know what's going on. Depending on the situation, it might even be appropriate to use admin on them if they are not responding to warnings - certainly by using admin to send warnings to them (with e's it's fine to kick after warning a couple times, with G's and O's get leadership involved).

I hate to report people and to seem like a "tattle-tale" but for the good of the servers, there is nothing wrong with reporting them and having something done. If a member of leadership is not around, send a PM to one of them on the forums with the time, server, and all pertinent information.

yeah I am an e and there were no admins other than the eG that was causing the problems but next time i will just pull chat logs. where should I send them though if no one is on?

Hacking - DO NOT BAN ON SUSPICION OF HACKING. Only ban hackers who are speedhacking or spinning around in circles headshotting people. So unless its insanely obvious and disrupting the server do not, I repeat, do not ban them.
It's as if people forget about what they've read when getting admin. You DO NOT get any sort of prize of banning anyone, even if their hacking. You do it for the community, which quickly becomes pointless if you ban the entire community.
Clearly this has become an issue with a mixture of a lack of Admin Classes, how frustrating BC2 can be, which easily leads to accusations of hacking and the lack of a spectate mode to prove who is/isn't hacking.

Wow! This issue I hope won’t be turning into pissing contest. Look! It is very simple rules there are guidelines which is Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to go by, its only guidelines to help us moderate and TRY to keep order within a unit. Very simple if you’re issues that you feel is getting out of hand on the server or in edgegammers vent follow the change of command, report the issue http://www.edgegamers.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=122324 gather evidence, records if it is possible to proved your point, if you can’t gather evidences don’t worry command with evaluated the issue. Lots of times pubbers and even EGO member’s including our leadership have their bad days and they get into a piss off mood and play internet games and try to take out their frustration on others.
Bare in mind this doesn’t make things ok for you to take your frustration out on other members or pubbers. If you’re a unit member and you are playing on edgegammers server causing issue crying and whining; please dude just leave no one wants to read that crap we are trying to have fun. Edgegammers every time you log into any servers you are representing edgegammers organization by wearing our tags; if all you want to do is make this organization look bad then maybe you need to rethink why did you join edgegammers organization. If you are edgegammers administrator playing on edgegammers server and whining and abusing you powers you are especially wrong, and I hope the administration deals with quickly; not only do you make the edgegammers organization look bad you also ruining the reputation of the edgegammers admins, the ones that really care and trying their best to set the example for this organization.
Simple fact is we all are just trying to have fun, and hang out with each other and play games together. If all you want to do is whine, cry, and try your best to bring down others just move on please I don’t want hear it and I think other members don’t want to hear it to. Edgegammers Organization has a standard operating procedure (SOP) rules for members and Administrators if you don’t agree with them why did you join?

Have fun all
