Warning Pubbers

I know this may sound pretty stupid, but its sad I feel I have to put this up as a thread. I've been noticing a few people(admins and non-admins) getting hostile over server rule violations, and it's kind of driving me nuts.

1st. Dont threaten them with kicks or bans!
-This only aggrevates the situation and makes pubbers who are following the rules feel unwelcome(they are playing to have fun. not to get regulated). I've personally watched servers go just about empty because of members and/or admins doing this. Politely warn them(remember to say please) and if they continue then kick them. If you are an =(e)= find an admin on vent. There is more than likely someone on that is willing to help you. And even if you are unable to contact an admin there are ways to deal with them.

2nd. We need to be more friendly about addressing rule violations.
- I know "punks" may get on our nerves and disrupt gameplay, but I can't tell you how many times I've warned people and after being polite and friendly to them they turn around to be respectful pubbers on our servers and continue to come back daily.


It's all about how we address the individual. We can avoid alot of trouble if we simply remain friendly to those who are causing the problem. 7 out of 10 times people find it hard to be rude when the person they are verbally attacking is being polite. NO BS! If we continue on this path of being rude to pubbers we will eventually find ourselves with empty servers.

What is an Admin?
Admins are members who help maintain a fun and clean gaming environment. This is achieved by reminding players of our rules and when necessary removing troublesome players from the server. You, as an admin, set the tone of the server, which is why you should have fun while keeping an eye on the players in the game. We have a motto: ?Play first, admin second.? It is important to deal with situations in a very timely fashion without looking for reasons to use your admin abilities.
EdgeGamers? Organization Admin Standards
1. Be familiar with the EdgeGamers? code of conduct. You may read about it in more detail by following this link.
2. Wear the EdgeGamers tag in the front of your name and put all other tags behind your name when on eGO servers to let players know there is an admin present.
3. Know the server rules. You are expected to abide by them and are held to a higher standard than non-admins.
4. Use your admin only when necessary. You can get a good idea of when to use admin after attending a scheduled admin class.
5. Communicate with your fellow admins. Use Ventrilo, admin-chat and the other tools available to you to make sure you're not stepping on other admins? toes or acting in a manner that could confuse your fellow admins.
6. Do not spend your gaming time as a spectator looking for trouble. It is NOT your job to look for hackers, exploiters, or glitchers.
7. Keep a level head, and be polite when using admin.
8. Don't argue or question another admin?s decision in public. All discussions in game about admining should be done via admin chat or Ventrilo. If necessary, involve higher-ranked members of leadership using the Chain of Command.
9. Undercover admins must be authorized by eGO Council.
10. If you have banned a player you are required to visit the Contest a Ban forum regularly to address any contest in a prompt manner.
