Need help with lag, PLEASE!!

Some of you know this has been going on for a week or more now. Everytime I am in game, my ping goes from 130 to 500 and up. It skips up and down every 10 seconds or less. Its impossible to play and im sick of it. I tried reinstalling the game, changing my router settings, called AT&T, forwarded the BC2 ports...and nothing.

BTW this is the only game that laggs online. I can play any other game perfectly fine. PLEASE HELP ME!!! I miss playing with you guys.:(
 
Some more info if anyone has any ideas is that he is using wireless not hardwire.
 
What about other BFBC2 servers? Have you tried playing on any others? If you have and its still doing it, try playing on a BFBC2 that is not in the same city as our servers. The only thing I could find (gameMe) says the servers are located in Sayerville, NJ. It shouldn't be hard to find a server not located there...

Also, sure you've tried this, but have done a tracert to any of our servers?
 
well pends on your rig too, and me and you can go to your config file, and tweak your settings for performance, if you would like

Ask for Kerak's help hes an expert with AT&T :thumbup1:
 
Yeah terrorist was having the same issues and they were resolved by lowering his graphics setting. If you didn't have the problem before with the same setting, you should clean your pc out. By this i mean you could have dirty fans causing infective cooling and heat issues. As any part in your pc gets hotter it has a performance hit so check your cpu and gfx card fans and clean them and the heat sinks with a can of compressed air. Make sure to hold the can upright, do not shake the can, and make sure the pc is off! Also as some moisture may result, wait a few minutes before powering it back up. I hope this helps.

Lol. That is weird Pensive, because I was about to come in and say to clean out the tower. :lol:

This computer was made a couple of months ago. Plus, my lag is reflected by ping spikes in the server. Its latency lag, not graphics lag.

BTW I'm using a wireless usb adapter

So, did you try any of this?
 
Just so you know terrorist was also experiencing latency spikes in game till he lowered settings. Another thing the usb wireless does it have a cord allowing you to place the antenna away from the screen and tower ? If so then place it as far from either as you can. Also what is the signal quality like? How far from the router? What router and USB adapter do you use? What firmware is on the router? I should have moder number followed by version info. What is the upstream and downstream speed of your connection? With all of that information as well as your complete system spec including brands and model numbers of your internal hardware, it will be easier to troubleshoot.

The wireless adapter has an extended USB cable and is placed as far away from my components.

Signal quality is usually 3-4 out of 5 bars. I am on the other side of the wall from the router.

The router is a 2WIRE provided by AT&T U-Verse. (Model Number:3800HGV-B...Software version:6.1.9.24-enh.tm)

Wireless adapter is Linksys AE1000.

I do not know the up/down stream.

About an hour and a half ago things just started working fine. Yoyort and myself were thinking of all of the possible causes, and I just started clicking around in my router settings. I don't remember changing anything whatsoever though...
 
That is good, if you have any more issues I will look up your router info and see what you should change lol. But, for now I will just wait and see how it goes. I will also say if the Uverse is a satellite connection then you will have intermittent problems more often that a wired connection such as dsl or cable. Also at that range even through a wall your wireless signal should be a 4-5. Your pc spec looks nice though with win7 or vista i would double your ram amount. Also what size power supply do you have as that card with a good load on it will consume 270watts and with the base card it is 160watts and recommends at least a 450watt power supply but with your setup and the superclocked card I would go no lower than a 650watt PSU and if you have multiple optical drives and usb devices i would go for a little bigger. When your GXF Card gets to using resources it could steal power that smaller devices need like your usb wireless. Also I have had much better luck with the internal wireless adapters being more reliable.
 
I'll give the internal wireless some thought. I might end up switching to that in the long run. I have a 700 watt power supply and windows 7 pro 64 bit. UVerse is DSL btw

I just try to cover all bases cuz sometimes it's something unexpected and mundane.
