They're just using this as leverage in a game of political poker.
 
agreed it would be political suicide to shut down the government and not pay the troops...

thats frankly asking for anarchy..

on the other hand, I can see a lot of government contractors being told to sit on their hands while the government shuts down... and a lot of people are going to have to close their doors because of it.
 
It would be the start of an internal down fall. Stop trying to aid other countries and help our damn selves. I never was in to pollitics but damn it... Really....
 
Historically, every time congress has dragged the ball on budget bills, and even during "shutdowns", the military was paid. Either through emergency expenditure funds, or a retroactive payment.
 
I really don't think this country has fallen to the point that the polititions could expect not pay our military personel during a time of armed confict, and still expect to be re-elected. Lynched maybe, but not re-elected.
 
All in all it will destroy us... IN the short term it will cause me a great amount of problems including the one of me not getting to go home.. or pay my bills...
 
The government will never get anything done. Like George Washington said, he feared of competing political parties, and he rightly should have.
 
Damn government has always been messed up but then again in other countries they r too or trying to duplicate ours smh
 
Remember gang! The military of this country is based on an all volunteer enlistment, with some exceptions, therefor we still need to report to work even if the paycheck doesn't come in. You volunteered for this just like the rest of us. It sucks, I know I took the hit already. Lost some of my hazard pay. jump pay, medic pay, and my flight pay to try and save some money. Keep up the work, it will sort itself out sooner or later.
