Steam related issue

every time i attempt to open steam, i get an error message saying this:

Steam.exe(Main exception): Cannot open blob archive file
CMultiFieldBlob(mem-mapped file): Failed to open existing file; Win32 Error 32
"The process cannot access file because it is being used by another process"

any help?

Delete clientregistry.blob. That's the main blob file I can think of. If that doesn't work, I'd just try a reinstall.

You may also want to kill the "steam.exe" process in your Process's tab in your task manager. try this after trying pet rocks suggestion of deleteing the clientregistry.blob. last try the reinstall.

Edit: you will know this is your issue if you see the steam.exe process running and steam is not active.

(this is a common install path for most people)
