Wii U Spec Sheet

I still dont see the point of this controller other than it turns your TV and Wii U into a giant DS. Is there a real need for this giant thing or just trying to make it more appelaing for people to buy?

From what I heard the thing is very light but it doesnt matter how light it is if its like holding a steering wheel and trying to pay attention to two screens which can easily get you killed. Not to mention if im moving it around all the time it will be hard to try to watch both screens.

I think the console will do goo but not great and the new controlle will bomb.

The screen of the controller will probably be supplementary for most games, I don't believe you will have to look at both screens at the same time. Also I think the WiiU will do great, considering Nintendo is catering to multiple fanbases with forgetting about one. The controller doesn't seem like much of an issue in my opinion. Controllers have always been strange over the years. There have been fishing rods, power gloves, steering wheel/ gamepad crossovers, etc. Some worked, some didn't. A good comparison is the N64 controller and the dreamcast controller. The N64 worked, while the Dreamcast controller felt strange (lack of a second analog stick while keeping the left analog stick above the directional pad was a bad idea). The WiiU controller looks like it was designed with current technology in mind, keeping it simple. To me that means it brings gamers down to the same level. In terms of competitive gameplay, all you have is your skill. You can get on any console and pretty much play as you would at home. I for one will be getting a WiiU as soon as I can, it offers more to me than Microsoft/Sony has (depending on the price).

I just dont see a lot of the owners besides dedicate gamers or nintendo fanboys getting the new system I really dont. If Nintendo had introduced this as an expansion platform for the wii like a docking mechanism at a reduced price yes maybe then. But as a whole new console I dont see it getting insanse sales numbers like the original Wii did. Who knows over 2 years when it comes out where we will be and what the final price will be. But to be honest the families who bought the system for their young kids or just very casual gamers I dont think will rush out and wait in lines and put the thing on indefinite back order for months.

I really think this should have been an addon for original Wii. Im not sure if that was a technical impossibility but I think they could have made it work.

Though I must say if the blu ray rumors are true propsfor Nintendo for getting on board even if some of the money for the parts goes to Sony.

Now only if Microsoft will admit defeat as well but they seem still too stubborn for it...
