Aww man, that just means more micro-transactions though. I would rather have bought a full game, but I can't really complain, it's going to be sweet regardless.
They haven't announced a release date that I can find, but I'd bet it comes out early next year with the titles already on tap over the next 3 months.

I would think that it would be more pay to customize looks, and perhaps styles of weapons. Not so much the power of a weapon. Thus he stated there will be no armor that even a pistol cannot take down. It will be something to watch for in the future.
Honestly, I'm not too happy about this. I played the original in beta and through it's golden years. I can tell you, there's not a single F2P game I've enjoyed except for Spiral Knights and even that game wore thin pretty quick. Personally, I think this is going to be a bad idea and I think SOE is shooting themselves in the foot before they've even learned to walk. PS1 was a tremendously great game in the beginning, but then the "vocal minority" ruined the game into its current state. Really, for PS2 to be great, all SOE would have to do is incorporate a new engine with better physics and visuals and use the same gameplay as PS1 and it would be SO awesome. But I have a bad feeling that now it's just going to be more of a watered-down better-looking PS1. And that's not even mentioning the impact that micro-transactions will have on the balance of the game.
