Exploit?

Should we consider the issue of someone hopping in the heli like the Huey on Rush Caspian and not actually sitting in one of the seats and repairing the huey constantly an exploit? We had some pubbies doing this last night and it took 7 of us with stingers to bring it down... Technically I think it should be considered an exploit as it gives the enemy team a never ending spawn thats almost impossible for the defenders to counter. Along with flares the helicopter becomes almost unkillable.

Its not new though to BF3..... so, how is it an exploit? If the game lets you repair the bird, how is it an exploit?

Out of curiosity, how do they stick with the heli after it's taken off while not occupying a seat? Haven't seen that one yet.

they are in a seat, they are in a passenger seat...no pilot, non-gunner....

been done and in most of the others you would get points from repairing the heli while in it. In BF3 you don't. (unless that was a bug I'm not aware of) I don't see this as a exploit at all that is just good teamwork to keep the spawn point in the air.

He said they weren't in a seat. Maybe you can get stuck on the chopper somewhere and repair. If that is the case than not cool, other than that, if in a seat, repair away.

Personally I would say if they are not in a seat (Where you can repair) then its an xploit, I dont think choppers were made to crarry those not sitting in them...

Becuase with flares being on helicopters, how quick they reload, and how weak the stingers are it makes the helicopter that much harder to bring down and pretty much impossible unless you can coordinate an entire squad to be dedicated air defense for the entire match. Yes but remember how you use to have to shoot down heliocopters, putting som good lead on an rpg......that still works. It is just easier now with stingers....

In BC2, the hind was/is an excellent platform for this type of teamwork. Even more so if you get 2 engies back there working together. The hind becomes a fairly mean tank.

Granted, in BC2, one missile hit of any kind will take it out, if you can actually hit it. Not so with the stinger I gather.

Still, I think one of the strengths offered by eGO servers is the challenging gameplay. Yes, it's supposed to be fun, and even I get tired of respawning quite as often as I have to... but I don't think something should be considered an exploit because it is hard to counter.

Perhaps the flares will get a bit more reload time added in the coming months, perhaps the stingers will be stronger (though don't want to see them too powerful)

If other players are getting frustrated, chances are they are frustrated by those who can aim as well... we can't consider aiming an exploit though

Gotta support Reylaark on this one.

Even if they are stuck in the helicopter somehow, this adds perhaps ONE additional spawnable point. Sure it is an exploit, but if they were sitting in the helicopter regularly the repairing would be just as bad, if this is about helicopters being hard to shoot down, welcome to Battlefield, where you aren't supposed to be a solo act run and gunning fool. Battlefield is about teamwork and if you need your squad to help you take down a helicopter, it should be that way.
If this is about someone using an exploit to get ahead, we should by all means address it, but it is my opinion that there are many problems facing BF players and the Admins on eGO servers that deserve more attention than this.

personally I believe its not an exploit. They are using tactics that were built for the game. It is up to the opposing team to use their own strategies to take it down. I have to admit, it is difficult with flares already, but its apart of the game.
