Meh its just two 8800GTS cards stuck together,it looks nice but it doesn't seem that whole much faster then my current card.
I'll stick with my 8800GTX till the 10 series.

[/quote1206267487]Well if your going from an 8800 series card i'd say you are wasting your money plus you need a decent PSU and overall a good system not to bottleneck the card much.
Other than that and the SLI problems i've heard with the GX2 your best waiting for the series after unless you really need to upgrade.

No way would I ever drop $600 on one card. I don't think the price jumped equally with the technology.

The thing is it isn't new tech so the price isn't really justified,the GX2 is nothing more than two 8800GTS cards glued together.
Heck the whole 9 series is turning out to be the 7800-7900 thing all over again.

Ya im getting one of the new 9800's in a few days i just got some money so im on a shoping spree for my computer im going to get 3 9800s a pack of 2 sticks of 2gb RAM and probably a new prosseser mabey an dual core extreme or a quad havent decided yet.

Thats about a $2,000 upgrade. If you got it, spend it I guess. Make sure you get a three way Sli bridge. I am guessing the cards do not come with one. I know Newegg sells them.
You are going to need a big power supply for all of that. I wonder if a 1000w would even be enough.

yeah.... alittle more than 2k bucks. 3 9800gx2's will set you back 1800, a dual core or quad core extreme will be atleast 1k depending on what you get. 4 gb of ram only like 120-160 though. still idk what your trying to play lol. anyway you will have to upgrade your motherboard to for the tri SLI, 780i sli around 260$ or the 790i sli 300$+ and then you have to buy ddr3 which is really high priced. 4gb's of that would set you back around 350-800+ depending on what speed you get... deffinitely a new power supply. id say min 1000-1300 watt which is around 300 or so. you should really think things through. lol. your lookin at a pretty penny there.. acually though, to the other people, an 8800gts g92 card beats the 8800gtx and ultra in some area and other it doesnt and the 9800gx2 is 2 8800gts g92's on one pcb, with alittle slower core clock, but not much. the 9800gx2 is alot better than 1 8800gtx i can tell you that but it isnt worth it if you do have an 8800. unless its an OLD 8800gts 640mb or 320mb. lol i forgot about cooling too, you would most likely have to get a bigger case and more fans or ever liquid cooling , cause thats gonna make ALOT of heat. and there goes the electric bill, haha. but whatever dude if you can afford all that more power to ya

Oh, also, I learned that the 9800GX2 heats the heat sink and since the heat sink is right under the 9800GX2, the heat sink heats the 9800GX2 while the 9800GX2 heats the heat sink... yes it doesn't make sense but let's just say the motherboard will hit around 85 Celsius and will shutdown for safety reasons because it can, oh and also graphics are processed through the integrated GFX card before hitting the 9800GX2, so imagine the huge hit to performance there well it depends on the motherboard but still geeze

The thing is iits no beter than the 8800 GT unless you are running a game that has SLI on it. So if you play games with SLI get it but if not its a waste IMO
You cannot have 3 GX2s btw... that would be hexa SLI mode, which does not exist. 2 GX2's is like quad SLI pretty much. I would not recommend a GX2. It is not needed for any game on the market. You could get 3 8800 Ultras for the same price and get twice the performance. Either way, you don't need all of that. One GX2 is fine. I would actually recommend a 3870 X2 from ATI. It is a heck of a lot cheaper and will get about 100 less points on a benchmark. The GX2 gets mabey 5 FPS more during intense situations on Crysis than a GX2. Yet it is 200 dollars cheaper. Also has a way better cooling system and is a true dualGPU card, rather than an SLI configuration with a heat sink slapped in between the two cards.

The GX2 looks pretty on paper, but in reality it is BARELY better. You would pay 200 more dollars to get 5 more FPS on the most demanding game. Either one will destroy any game made by valve, so why spend the extra money? Unless you are that adamant about brands, you should invest in the 3870 X2

Thatguy is completely correct here. The GX2 is NOT dual-GPU technology as advertised! It is simply two 8800GT cards with a heatsink slapped in between them. Also, unless you're planning on getting two, it won't be worth upgrading from any 8800 SLi setup, let alone any 8800 Ultra setup.
One more thing, the drivers are total crap right now. This video card is nowhere near what it can be, and it won't be that way until around mid-summer (my estimate). The whole 9 series at this point seems to be a total disaster,the 9800GTX is barely (and in some cases not as fast) any faster than the 8800GTX/Ultra and is cripled by a 256Bit Memory bus whilst the older GTX/Ultra cards have 384 and 768Mb of ram which means they pull ahead in higher resolutions.
I mean i love my 8800GTX and i would say its the best darn card i have even owned but c'mon Nvidia after over a year of waiting is this really the best you can do? give us some new tech already istead of another rehash.
I'm itching to upgrade but at this rate it won't be till the end of this year.
