Ventrilo issues when connecting to the eGO server.

I have had Ventrilo for about a month of two now, only because of the fact that eGO hosts things like meetings there. The only problem is that no matter what I try, Ventrilo simply will not work for me. When I connect to the eGO server when using Hostname, the thing tells me that it cannot resolve the Hostname. Whenever I use the IP address, it simply tells me that Contacting to the server, and goes no farther (I have recently made another stab at making it work: It has told me that it is trying to contact the server, as it has for the last 15 minutes). I am going to go back and redo some methods I used earlier (like reinstalling), but I really need help. Thanks in advance guys.

Alrighty caboose, i'll give you a step by step guide on how to use ventrilo. I want you to launch up ventrilo, if your running vista run as admin/sp2. Alright now i want you to click on the arrow to the right of Username. Now click new and put caboose as your name. Once you do that you should be brought back to the username menu with phonetic and all of that sutff. Click okay and you back to the main menu, i now want you to click the arrow to the right of server. click new and set the name as edgegamers then click okay. For host name or ip i want you to put voice.edgegamers.org *make sure you dont add any extra blank spaces*. Click okay and change the port to 29272. Make sure there is nothing in the password section. Click okay at the bottom so your at the main menu. click connect and you should be good to go.

I used all the information in the Ventrilo help section to the letter. Although I appreciate the help, everything you are telling me to do I have done before.

Hammer, I did what you said and I got the message: MSG: Unable to resolve hostname. And I did everything you told me to word for word, no spelling errors.

*EDIT* I posted a split second after you Hammer, so I did not see the new post. However, it did not give me any help at all. I think my problem stems from my computer, not from Ventrilo itself, because I am doing all the steps to the letter.

Try going into your firewall and making an execption for ventrilo.

My firewall is an incredibly stupid one, because Ventrilo is not on the list of programs it has for firewall monitoring/clearance, and the Add Program function is busted. This is what I get for using a free firewall. I really appreciate the help guys, and please keep it rolling. But at this point, I am starting to lose hope for my Ventrilo.
