Hey guys, so SWTOR just got released in Australia and I'm think of purchasing the game but I was wondering is it going to last? because Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2 and Tera Online are coming out soon, so really would it be worth it?

Just wondering if you guys can express your opinion's so I can tell wether the community is going to last long enough between now and the future release of these games.

I think there will definatly be a dip when these other games get released but this is an mmo it will be here after you get bored with diabo 3 and mass effect.

I'm not going anywhere soon. I might try Diablo 3, but it most certainly will not replace sw:tor for me. This game is simply too good, imo.

Sincerely, I've played many MMO's during my life, played many games but as far SWTOR is THE best, and the fact eGO has a guild in the game made me get the game as soon as it got released. You can buy the game and try it with the first free month and see if you like it, but yeah, the gaame is absolutely awesome.

Its worth it! i had the same pause when i though about buying it but its worth it!

I enjoyed the play-through of my first character, but the end-game was a lost cause for me and I quit a few weeks ago.

When I'd log on, my choices were a) running repetitive dailies for insufficient rewards, b) searching fruitlessly for Flashpoint groups, or c) suffering through the most lag-infested PvP action I've ever been witness to.

After a couple weeks of this, I tried to alleviate the problem by creating another character to level while I waited for more 50's, but I couldn't even get past level 20. The stories are good for each class, but they actually make up a relatively small proportion of the quests you'll eventually do, and the repetition just killed the fun. Even then, the story missions have you doing more or less the same exact things the other story missions did, just with slightly different context.

I feel like I got my 60 bucks worth, but not the 90 I ended up paying w/ subscription fees. Your mileage may vary!

At the end of the day, almost every MMO out there suffers the same issues. Reach max level, repeat content to farm for better gear or awards or whatnot. It's part of the formula. It's a tiresome treadmill, but there can't be a constant batch of fresh new content to keep apace with the speed players play at.

SWTOR at least has differing class stories. Most MMOs make you repeat the exact same quests with every character. Dunno which two classes you were playing, but all my class quests have been quite different so far. Yes, they all push you along the same progression order of planets, but the story itself is vastly different.

I think I'm going to stick with it until Guild Wars 2, and even then I'm sure I'll play both. As a purely PvE player, SWTOR is definitely my top MMO right now, and I've played nearly every one out there. GW2 may end up not meeting my expectations, but the features list and developer articles have me very excited for the way they're turning standard MMO mechanics on their head. The question is; will it have enough fun and content to keep my interest, or will I end up going full time in SWTOR again?

Not that I get much game time as it is these days -.-
