So I've had 2 6970's since the week they released. A couple weeks ago I bought a 6990 to add to the mix, so that I could play bf in eyefinity again. This is the part that im confused by when I enable 3 gpu's I get around 72-200 fps everything maxed out in 1920*1080 (cant remember where I put my mini-display adapter) but when I enable all 4 gpu's its anywhere from 1-12 fps tops .... beyond frustrated any advice would be appreciated

ps. I set all the clocks to the same speeds and completely removed drivers and installed the latest (12.3) which actually say's 12.2 when you download it. Also ran 3dmark11 and received a score of P~4000 will all 4 gpus, and when i just had a crossfire setup it was P~11,000

Most likely its a driver issue, BF3 might not run well with 4 gpu's, You dont really need that many GPU's in the first place. One 6990 is more than enough.
 
LOL what killer said. Mine runs high very good on one hd6850. Cant really upgrade cause im a broke college student so im glad it works. :D
 
It's been ages since I've used 3DMark... Am I correct in assuming the 11000 score is much better than the 4000?

I'm wildly guessing here but been studying up on computer architecture so my thinking is kind of skewed in that direction:

Is it possible that with 4 GPU's, your motherboard's bus is getting swamped creating traffic jams and conflicts? Which Motherboard is it?

Never used eyefinity, I have enough trouble keeping track of what's happening on a single screen :p

werd, MANY GAMES DONT REQUIRE THE POWER U HAVE AND IT IS AN OVERKILL. Either take away the 6970s and keep the 6990, or take one 6970 out. Im pretty positive that combination you have is not even possible and the are no drivers for it.
 
Your mobo might only have 2 pci-e slots that run @ x8 in xfire and the 3rd at x4 try putting th 6990 in the 1st pci-e slot and the 6970s in the next 2 slots.

thats how it is^^^

mobo= MSI P67A-GD80 (b3)

its not really overkill when I want max or near max settings at a 5760*1080...

and other people have had this combo and have had no issues at all.... I just feel like theres something little that im not doing..

With your mobo, as well? With the exact same specs?

Actually the back of the box states that this board only officially supports Quad-SLI or dual card, quad-GPU CrossFireX. So anyone looking for 3-Way, 4-Way, or 3 and 4 card CrossFireX should keep on looking. This board won?t fit the bill.

What would work, if I understood the above correctly, is if you sell your two 6970s and get another 6990 since it does support dual card, quad-gpu crossfire.

Wish it was better news man.

Well done sire, that sucks because that mobo was recommend by people in the tech forum.... Ahhhh o well, with that being said anyone have recommendations that WILL work ?

either sell both ur 6970s and buy another 6990 or just sell ur 6990 and keep the others. Personally i would just sell the 6990 because there is still quite a demand for them and not to many on the market (from the places i look at newegg, tigerdirect, amazon).

I have to agree with bravo sell your 6990 and keep the dual 6970 because 2 cards that equal one card are always faster the the one card because it has to be under clocked to not overheat
