What do you guys think of this Cyberpower Rig?

Ok, so it's really time for an upgrade. I usually upgrade every 2 years, the last couple I've been cool because my current rig did what I needed it to. However, it's aging and slowing and is out of date. Time for a new bad boy. I got my last rig from Cyberpower and I'm getting my next one from them as well. What do you techno junkies think about this rig? I'd probably upgrade the power supply as well as add more case fans. I'm kind of on a budget since my tax refund is going toward me getting a new house. This PC has great reviews, I read all the way back toward 12/2007, mostly all positive. Any better ideas, I'm all eyes.

Well, I'm not into building them on my own, I've heard how easy it is to do, but I'm not patient enough to try it. Is it a good rig though? I mean it out performs my current rig, spec wise anyway. I don't know much about SLI cards and running dual cards yet. I'm still back in the 8x AGP

Well whats your price range, I'll config one through Cyberpower for you.

Plus do you want vista or XP or just a formatted hard drive? Do you need any extras (speakers mouse keyboard ect)? Any preference/need for multiple CD/DvD drives? How much Hard drive space are you looking for?... and anything else I might have missed.

seriously i think building a PC would be a lot cheaper and better. just get someone that knows his or her way around PCs to help you

well yes thats ideal but some people would prefer to pay a $100 or $200 premium for a warrantied product backed by a larger company instead of some body working out of their home

not to bash cyber power but in a PC building magazing a couple of years back it said something bad about Cyber power. ill have to try to find that magazine.

Yeah i heard they weren't great a few years back but alot of current magazines i've read through 2005 onwards they get nothing but high praise even from myself.

I had my friend check out that rig last night on cp's website. He said I definately should go for a different mobo, cpu and a single 8800gt. He pointed me in the way of new egg, but by the time I put it all together, it was 1200 bucks and that was minus the cpu cooler because they were out of stock. headache

The one you linked is fine. Just get rid of the 2 8500's and put 1 8800 in its place. Should be about the same cost. That processor is just fine. I use it and have it OCd to 2.9ghz on stock cooling zero problems. It runs max temp of 36-37 during stress tests and idles at 25 or lower. No need for a quad core or anything, as it does nothing to improve game performance for valve games (only one core is utilized during game play). So if your friend is trying to make you buy an expensive processor, there really is no need for it. I have been seeing a LOT of people lately spending 250+ on a processor and then buying a 100 dollar video card. Instead, spend 100-150 on a processor and 200-250 on a video card. The hardware market for processors is going crazy at a rate that there is no point to them right now. The only numbers for gaming that really matter are FSB and frequency. At some point, it caps about and there is no need for more speed, as games DO have a maximum limit to performance.
