Sound Card - Stupid Question

So I pulled the speaker input out of my sound card so I could plug in my headphones and I 'broke' the speaker input pin (not smart). I took the sound card out and removed the pin. It really was not that hard, it was stuck through the input slot. So now when I plug my headphones in, the plug has a very difficult time fitting in. I look at the input hole and it looks identical to the rest, there are no visible obstructions, but obiously since I have to force the headphones (or any other input for that matter) something is wrong. Now only one ear has sound in my headphones. As I type this I realize, I ruined the sound card . Anyone else want to tell me to be nicer to my computer parts?

Haggis, there could still be a small bit metal in there. Examine both parts of the broken plug and make sure they fit together and are not missing pieces. Also, check the solder points for that input. You might have loosened one.

This doesn't solve your actual problem, but when my mic jack finally broke, I found a great solution: a Logitech gaming headphone/mic set with a USB connection. Works great and I have plenty of USB ports, so I never have to worry about my jacks. Mine was about $30. If you can't fix, work around.
